What the FUCK is up with Magneto's costume there? So gay Ian McKellan would refuse to wear it.

I always enjoyed JRjr's art. And Byrne's pencils were naturally "loose"... look at the difference when he inked himself versus when someone like Terry Austin really made his work shine.

I think Dan Green was Jrjr's best inker. I think it was Jansen who made his work look like a mess.

Totally agree. I've only read the Typhoid Mary storyline but it was awesome.

She wrote a good Spider-man storyline called "The Mad Dog Ward" which I thought was excellent, that dealt with the treatment of the mentally ill.

If you haven't already, check out the Typhoid Mary mini-series she did, back in the late 90s I believe. EXCELLENT art, and a great read.

A comic sequel I can get behind:

40 MORE Of The Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings.

Some of these had me desperately trying to stifle laughs at work.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

Now they're whipping a dead horse. First, some of those drawings have real power, despite Liefield's relaxed attitude towards anatomy and perspective. They're energetic, and that's all he's trying to do. Second, it looks like he was doing too much work on too short a deadline. Although it may result in weak art, it makes editors happy. Happy editors give you more work. Third, those guys are mocking Liefield for emphasizing the aspects of women that he thinks are hawt. That's what artists do. We know that R. Crumb likes big thighs, and Frazetta liked bubble butts.

My original comment still stands, that I can't respect Liefeld because has made no effort to improve his craft in 25 years. But this new blog is just fanboy bile.

Frazetta and Crumb are fine artists though with a deep rooted understanding of anatomy and composition, so if they make a big ass I forgive it as an artistic choice. Liefeld is just a mistake machine. Not only has he not improved, I think he's actually somehow gotten worse over the years.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

The worst thing about Rob Liefeld (by which I mean "one of the attributes of Rob Liefeld") is that he refuses to make any adjustments to his art. Motherfucker has never owned an eraser in his entire life. Never needed one. He draws the fist, draws the sword handle, draws the hilt, then decides he wants the blade to be pointing in a different direction. Rather than just shrug and have the blade follow the line of the shit he’s already drawn, or erase what he’s drawn and rearrange it to conform to what he wants, he rolls his eyes, repositions his backwards-facing baseball cap, and draws the blade HOWEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS.
I can just picture this

Cannonball looks like Morgan Fairchild looked into the Ark of the Covenant.
These articles are still some of the funniest things I've ever read...period. It's amazing how shitty this artwork really is. The "bendy swords" were killing me.

I remember reading the original article linked here 5 years ago, so that's pretty awesome.

They repeated a picture again in the second article... and did I miss it, or did they not directly address the infamous Captain American chest picture? They definitely referenced it in a few spots though.

The bit about multiple lens flares had me chuckling. A lot.

And also the female below him - she's got a crab claw grip on that handle! And Deathstroke's right foot - or whatever it turned into. A hoof?

Also looks like she is about to faceplant into the ground. That explains the expression on her face.

Also:

- Still with the knee pads after all these years.
- He loves him some pouches
- What the hell is that shoulder harness for? Oh, two more pouches!
- Where are those pebbles coming from?
- Is that fire in the background (at least the color artist put something in the background)? Are they jumping into Hell?

I don't know what his cover rate is but, whatever it is, DC is crazy to pay it.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

Some downtime here at work and thought I would take some of the critiques and fix 'em. It took all of 5 min. and I wasn't even trying to make it look good. Makes me wonder why they don't fix his shit.

Spoiler:

The way she was holding the sword looked unnatural the way I had to construct the hand. So I took his original angle and cnanged the placement of the sword.

Spoiler:

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

Awhile ago Liefeld was on Twitter really attacking artists, specifically Chris Bachalo, for missing deadline (I know, I know) or having to use multiple inkers in books, because he was "drawing 3 monthly books!", and it really shows here. Even by his low standards, that looks rushed and sloppy. Just 5 minutes of work from mrhan and it looks infinitely better, but Liefeld apparently can't be bothered. Yikes.

mrhan, that's really impressive.

Seriously, nice work. Drives home what a joke Liefeld really is.

What you did to her hand and the angle of her sword alone improves the entire image immensely!
