Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
This is the crossovers omni that was just solicited. The other omni was solicited 9 months back? Should be out anytime now. Between the two, that's gotta be everything. But knowing Marvel. . .

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I'm personally not a fan of Omnibus books that have a hodgepodge of writers and artists - they make for terrible, incoherent collections. Even when they follow a single character (such as Wolverine Omnibus), the lack of a singular artistic vision/narrative really drags it down as a book. And while AoV might follow a thread, it's not something that can stand on it's own, especially in a giant-book format. Many of those issues end in cliff hangers that weren't resolved until after AoV.
Now bring on Simonson's Thor Omnibus!

Iron Man (1st series) #250
Cloak and Dagger #8, 10
Silver Surfer (3rd series) #33
Thor (1st series) #410
Web of Spider-Man #62
Wolverine (2nd series) #19-20

Amazing Spider-Man (1st series) #329
What If..? (2nd series) #31

These are the issues I'll be picking up, and having bound as a third "micro-omni".

Way overdue Spider-man Omni. I'll take the black costume variant.
Looking at the solicitations, Marvel's numbering a complete clusterfuck of a mess. What a turn off. Doesn't make me want to buy any floppies.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I was just crying about all the omnibus/HC releases I wanted to see and Xtinction Agenda and McFarlane's Amazing Spider-Man were both on that list. Super excited to see both of them in the next Previews! (Although I wish they would've went through the Larsen run too. Hopefully it'll get a smaller followup at some point.)

“The Man in Black fled across the desert...and the gunslinger followed.” With those words from a short story published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Stephen King launched one of the most seminal characters in his lifetime of writing into a destiny fraught with danger, death, triumph and loss. King joined with Marvel in 2007 to bring his masterwork of fantasy to a new generation of readers. Adding stunning new textures to the mythos of Roland and Mid-World for four years, the initial arc of King and Marvel’s union is now complete, and the entire run is collected here. Collecting DARK TOWER: THE GUNSLINGER BORN #1-7, THE LONG ROAD HOME #1-5, TREACHERY #1-6, SORCERER #1, THE FALL OF GILEAD #1-6 and THE BATTLE OF JERICHO HILL #1-5.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
That was in last month's Previews, so it should have already been up for preorder.
I was listening to the Comic Geek Speak podcast where they chatted with Brian Hibbs. I guess it's not too surprising, but he said that the Omnibus and Absolute formats don't really sell at his store anymore, primarily because Amazon doesn't mind making pennies on these books. And it's true, I wouldn't buy an omnibus or Absolute at retail price at a local retailer when Amazon and other online companies discount them so much.
He also mentioned that Marvel seems to just collect everything they can think of. I was thinking about this the other day too... while it's great to see some of these older series come out, who's buying all this stuff? Acts of Vengeance, Secret Wars 2, and Evolutionary War, for instance; I have fond memories of them, and some like Lemmy may buy them out of nostalgia, but how much demand is there really for them? Last month, Marvel solicited a hardcover for the Fallen Angels miniseries, which I never thought would get reprinted. Maybe they can afford to limit the print runs or something, I just hope that they're not over-saturating the market. I look at my bookshelf and there's no room left.

Yeah, you'd be dumb to pay retail for an Omnibus that you can get on amazon for 45% off and no tax.
Although I did buy one Omnibus at retail a while back - it was the New X-Men one, long after it had been out of print and already going for over $200 on amazon, so when I saw it at a comic shop, of course I snagged it.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
The pricing on Amazon has all but killed it for shops IMO. See above.
There is usually a time delay with comic shops getting it sooner, but if someone already waited 15+ years for them to collect the story in a hardcover, they can probably hold out another month to save $50. It's pretty terrible for the specialty shops.

Of course, if you order from Amazon you run the risk of having it arrive damaged due to their frequently inadequate packaging.

Gosh, I would love to have a Spidey Omnibus that would cover any issues from #200-300. In my quest to read all of Amazing Spiderman, I can not find any trades or reprints for issues in this range. And the asking price for the originals on Ebay is ridiculous. I'm not going to pay $25 for a single freaking issue.

Me? But I probably fall into that nostalgia category as well. Although I know a few people at my wife's shop that ordered that Fallen Angels book to use your example. (Again, myself included.) I'm totally down for all the crossover event stuff from when I was a kid, just to have it all again. I'm in for the Evolutionary War for sure.
That's ok, though, i think I'm the only person that bought the Immonen Patsy Walker: Hellcat trade. But like I said before, even with Omniboo, my shrinking shelf space has forced me to reevaluate which series are actually worth collecting. If there were some kind of rental system for comics (as they come out), I would probably cut down my buying a ton.

Naw I don't want to read a comic on a computer screen. I'll go for Essentials before I do that. I have found a few trades that fill in that gap, but still a lot missing. I have about 75% of Amazing Spiderman in my collection.
