Just got my DCBS shipment!

I swear, it feels like I have Christmas once a month when I get my DCBS shipment. I haven't fully explored the contents of the box yet as I was in a hurry to leave for work, but a quick view of my loot:

Absolute Long Halloween
Spider-Man Omnibus
Civil War TPB
Overstreet Price Guide (HC) - this is the first time I bought this so I took a quick look this morning, man there are a ton of ads in this book!
Jonah Hex Vol. 2 TPB
LOSH Showcase
and a few others....

I will be reading comics tonight!

I got mine today, too. Eighteen pounds of reading pleasure. I'm not sure how I'll ever read that huge Spidey Omnibus though.

Tonight: WASTELAND.

Of course, the first thing I did was open to the final page of ELK'S RUN to see my name in the advertisement for POSTCARDS.

I know what you mean (though I order from mailordercomics). I've contemplated paying the extra for weekly or biweekly shipments, but getting that big monthly box is always a treat. I don't think I'm getting mine until Thursday...

Biweekly shipments from DCBS is awesome. On my last few shipments, they shipped on Tues rather than Wednesday, and I get them on Friday afternoon, perfect for weekend.

D'oh!

The book's coming from Villard, which is essentially Random House, so it'll show up in bookstores before comic shops. Two weeks prior if I remember right. Not sure if that means anything to ya.

On another note, I started reading WASTELAND last night. Got half way through the first trade. It's good, not great. Well, that's unfair to say since I haven't finished it. It does feel like it's building momentum, but a couple of times I felt the pacing was off. Love the art. Love the story idea. I just hope something blows me away soon.

DCBS prices have been really good of late. I'm thinking of switching from mailordercomics.com. I only wish DCBS accepted amex. My order is due in today from moc. 2 boxes! Can't wait.

I'm just waiting for the next price increase to try this place out. My LCBS has never given me a good reason to dump them. But when comic books go over $3, it will be out of my hands.

Yet another DCBS question!

I've got a bunch of stuff, already paid for mind you, that has been showing as "item filled, not yet shipped" for a while now. How long should I expect to wait until they ship it? They shipped Essential Ms. Marvel by itself last month and I'm still waiting for the Daredevil Omnibus, Secret Six, and other trades.

It should ship in your next order. That time depends on whether you selected once a month, twice a month, or four times a month shipping. If once a month, it will be after the last Wednesday of the month.
You can check if it is in your next shipment by going to shipments and clicking on the shipment labelled "next".

Oh snap, Absolute Long Halloween is out? I'm going to have to buy that one.

A quick DCBS question. I don't use them regularly, just here and there when they're a good bit cheaper than mailordercomics.com, and they've been holding my stuff for quite some time. For instance, I've got the Daredevil Omnibus, All Star Superman Vol 1 HC, Crisis on Multiple Earths vol 2, Secret Six tpb, Showcase Presents Hawkman, some other tpbs and as of last week, Thor's Hammer replica. I have a sense that most of the books have been out for a while and they all show as "Item Filled, Not Shipped Yet" on the site. I've been anxiously awaiting the "next shipment" that DCBS says they'll be sending. Last week I emailed them inquiring as to when the next shipment will be and they just responded saying that they'll ship everything when the Batman Black & White Alex Ross Statue and the Women of the DC Universe Big Barda Bust are released. I have no idea when they might be coming out and think it's unreasonable to wait for all the rest of the stuff. I am especially concerned about the Daredevil Omnibus and the hammer sitting around on some shelf taking god only knows what kind of abuse. Several months ago they shipped me the Essential Ms. Marvel book and a Charlie Brown statue as my entire shipment now they're making me wait for all this stuff? Is it unreasonable to ask them to ship my the stuff they have now?

DCBS is set up more as a subscriber service (i.e. monthly orders). Whatever books are late gets shipped in the next monthly order. I assume that what you have is a 1-time order. It just makes sense for them to hold everything for 1 shipment, otherwise with the spotty track record of comic shipments they will send you packages every other week. What you can do is ask them to ship what they already have and make another shipment when the rest come in. They will charge you another shipping fee with this request.

Just got my latest shipment last Monday, I was wondering what FCBD books you guys received? I got 4 in mine (Wolfman, Marvel Adventures, the DC kiddie title, forgot what the other one was).

bishop2knight 06-07-07 07:25 PM

I got Nexus, The Lone Ranger, Transformers, and Legion of Supers.

I so love getting my monthly shipment. Got Sasquatch, Batman Chronicles, Y: The Last Man trade, Walking Dead hardcover, Conan hardcover, Runaways hardcover, Cover Girls of DC hardcover, The Other Side, and Plain Janes. Now that's a reading list.

But I got the wrong cover for DC Cover Girls. Any idea if they'll trade for the right one?

ytrez 06-07-07 09:17 PM

See, that's the thing sinned, the things I have outstanding are from 3 separate orders, not a one time order. And they sent me a paritial order of Charlie Brown and Essential Ms. Marvel. That couldn't have eaten up the entire shipping charge that I paid!

sinned 06-07-07 11:42 PM

ytrez I would e-mail them with your concerns.

Yep, I got Nexus too and the DC kiddie title was Legion of Super Heroes.

First thing I read was THE BOYS TPB - Loved it!

I'm a sucker for the oversized hardcovers - got Silver Surfer Omnibus; Runaways V3, Ultimate Galactus Trilogy; and The Eternals. I wish DC would get a clue and start publishing in this format too.

Yeah, and that's if they're released on schedule.

I can't fathom why they'd send out an order with only 1 book and 1 small statue but hold all these other things for 3, 4, and 5 months. I sent them an email asking how much it'll cost to what they have in stock.
