Any Good Online Comic Book Retailers?
 

I just went to my local comic shop today. Their selection of old and new comics was laughable at best. Are there any good online sources for new and recent comics?

For new books, I'm looking for a dependable subscription service. For recent books, I'm talking just within the past few years.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Mile High Comics (I'm guessing milehighcomics.com) has a NICE subscription service, and they also have millions of back issues. Most are overpriced. However, if you're looking for obscure stuff or old old stuff, they have many sales. A while back, they had wonderful (read: cheap) auctions, too.

For subscriptions, I use to use:

They have special offers, etc. For example, when "Queen & Country" first came out, all of the issue #1's purchased through Westfield was signed by Rucka (at no extra markup) as a promotion. I'd still be using them if I still bought singles.

I've only had good experiences through mycomicshop (nice selection of recent back issues), and I actually go to the midtowncomics physical store (However, I was lazy once and bought some singles/trades from midtowncomics by mail and everything arrived fine and packed well).

I only purchase from Mile High Comics when they have certain sales (like 30% off all trades, or something like that), but like Bishop said, their back issues are otherwise overpriced. Also, I recently had a not too great experience with them: they didn't pack in one of the items I ordered and despite emails over the span of 2-3 months (with 2-3 promises to send the item out to me), they never bothered sending me the item (a Lone Wolf and Cub trade).

To add to greydt's post, I used to use westfieldcomics through the "snail mail" back in the 90's and they were great. They would send the order forms 3 months in advance if I remember right and you were able to plan your money and what books to buy.

I think I stopped back in the 90's when then shipping prices went up.

If you're looking for mainstream type stuff (DC/Marvel/Image), you might wanna check out www.eastcoastcomics.com

Discounted new comics & tpbs and reasonably priced backissues - free shipping over $30.

I also recommend East Coast Comics (link above). The only reason I stopped using them was that it took me 3 weeks to get to the $30 level (free shipping) and by then some of the "hot" issues may have been sold out.

I use www.comicsnow.com , if you like to plan your purchases in advance (thereby guaranteeing you a copy) they offer good service. I've also heard good things about www.dcbservice.com

i just found out about www.talesofwonder.com they have a big selection of not just hc/tpb's but also statues, posters and other comic stuff.

I'll second Midtowncomics.com. I know all the guys there and it's a great shop. Plus they offer discounts for subscribers.

My comic book store in Houston closed down a few months ago, and I've had a hard time getting new books when they come out. Any advice on where on-line I can order new books? By new I mean no more than a few months old.

Your best bet would be using a pre-order service if you're looking for a replacement for your local comics store.

If you're looking for recent backissues, http://www.milehighcomics.com attempts to keep every (or just about every) comic ever printed in stock. Their prices run pretty high, though, especially for anything deemed "hot." They're constantly running sales of some king, and offer free shipping on orders over $30.00. If you get on their mailing list, they occasionally run secret codeword sales that allow you to double-dip on discounts.

Some of the other above places might also sell recent backissues.

I've dealt with several comic book mail order services over the years and their customer service is second to none. Prices are excellent, your merchandise arrives in perfect condition. I couldn't ask for better.

I'm at work and don't have time to check those sites. Just to check, do any of those stores ship internationally. I know Eastcoastcomics.com did when I lived in the Philippines a few years ago, but it was a little pricey. Any other good options? Especially for more independent stuff -- I don't recall ECC carrying Dark Horse for example.

these are one`s I know of MagazineCity,Magazania,MagazineoftheMonth,Magazines.magazinevalues.com,MagMall and bestdealmagazines.I ask cause a few have batman,action comics FOR LIKE 13.95 a year.also mad comics for under 15 bucks for a year any help would be appreciated.thank you.just want to be sure if these are reliable.

Second that! they've worked great for me for the past year. previously, I ordered from Westfield Comics for over 10 years but mailordercomics has better discounts.

Just wanted to bump this thread and see if there were any other opinions.

I've used Westfield for about 20 years, but am searching for better discounts, as Westfield has really dropped their discount level in recent years. They have incrdible customer service though, and occasional freebies/bonuses. I'll stick with them for their special discount items, but think I'll have to start ordering some stuff elsewhere.

I have been using Westfield for about a year now. They are great if you use Previews magazine and like to order things other than comics...like Army of Darkness action figures and all kinds of obscure crap.

I have a problem with my comics arriving from them in less than NM condition. Some stuff obviously mishandled.

I recently placed 2 orders with Perpetualcomics.com but have not received my first order yet.

I think I will have to give this mailordercomics.com a look.

M&M Comics has been in business for over 15 years and their service is great!

I am generally pleased with Midtown comics. They have a great selection, easy to use subscription service, and you don't have to preorder two months in advance via Previews. I get everything just as it comes out, hot issues and otherwise.

There is a discount for subscribers, but it's offset by the shipping costs (I get my books biweekly at about $10/shipment, but then again I spend about $120/month in books). Still, just knowing that I will definitely have the books when they are released is good enough for me. And I get that nice big stack every two weeks. Better than Hogans!

I agree. I love being able to add and delete books from my subscription right up to the day my biweekly order ships. :up:

Try www.finarcomics.com - he's based in Boston, gives a 25% discount on new books, ships to your schedule (US or abroad - I'm in the UK), gives you freebies and sometimes gets hold of cheap signed copies - and is generally a nice guy!
