This seems like a pretty good deal from Tales of Wonder. Star Trek Gold Key Collection combo. All 5 volumes for $25. I'm not a fan but I am sure someone here might be. I had a few of these growing up but can't seem to pull the trigger since I never have been a big Star Trek fan.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Well, crap. Cheapgraphicnovels sent my order and it was very well packed, but they sent Cap Brubaker 1, which I already have, instead of the #2 that I ordered. I sent them a message, and now I have to mail it back to them, and since they predicted it would cost "a little over $5," they're reimbursing me $6. Less than a buck for the inconvenience of fixing their mistake.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Got my replacement Cap  A little annoying to have to pack and send back the wrong one but it didn't kill me.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Bargain Graphic Novels actually has a Deal of the Day! It's empty every time I click on it so I aways wonder why they're wasting the real estate, but today it pays off!
Barack Obama The Comic Biography HC for 3.60 instead of 4.49. I think I'll pass. :( |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Amazon has a bunch of preoprders on sale. For instance, look at the "new 52" tpbs.. some are at 48% off, while some are at considerably less of a discount (like Red Lanterns).
The standout is SpiderMan: Ends of the Earth hc, which is a whopping 65% off. Star Trek/Legion hardcover is 13.01 for a 24.99 cover price. The Marvel Zombies omnibus (Zomnibus) is 66.82 for a list price of 125. The next Hellboy Library edition and Richard Stark's Parker hcs are similar discounts. There are a ton of others, all preorders, I wonder if Amazon just got a great preordering deal from Marvel, DC, and IDW. |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
They have been giving out some good discounts on some preorders lately. I always check my DCBS order against Amazon to see if there are any significant savings.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Thanks for the tip. Pre-ordered Trek/Legion, and Aquaman New 52 was in my Gold Box picks so I got that too based on positive reviews in the DC thread.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I was looking at possibly getting this but wanted to see if anyone here had an opinion on it: The Dark Tower Omnibus.
It is currently $60 new which is a far cry from it's msrp of $150. I was thinking about pulling the trigger since this is the best price I have seen for it but it always seems books like these can be found even cheaper than this if you wait long enough. So I was looking on opinions on the product itself and the price. http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Tower-Omn...3056681&sr=1-1 |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Move fast if you want this price for Spider-man Omnibus Vol 2 from Amazon - $52.07
Unfortunately it isn't the version with the original cover but for a little over 50 bucks, I can live with it. http://www.amazon.com/The-Amazing-Sp...5391755&sr=8-7 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
^ Why? The MSRP is going up to $125?
|
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Its the best price I have seen it at with shipping included. Sorry if you didn't think it was deal worthy but I was happy to find it at this price and thought others may as well.

40 something percent off is pretty much the norm on most collected editions at Amazon or DCBS I thought. |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
The price tells me it must not be selling as well as Marvel and Amazon hoped.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
TFAW has a big sale through the end of the month with over 5500 items at 50-70% off:

So I was looking on opinions on the product itself and the price. http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Tower-Omn...3056681&sr=1-1 i thought since it was a massive two volume omnibus, it was the entire marvel series i was getting. to my surprise i finished reading it and nothing was resolved. then i looked online and there are more (smaller, regular) collections that go after this. i dont know if those will someday be collected in a second omnibus or what, but i wish i had known that at the time. i havent picked them up since i dont know. secondly, since this is some kind of prequel to a book series ive never read, i was pretty shocked that there is no dark tower itself in it! i mean they may show a glimpse of it or something but nobody ever gets there or really references it. i know marvel has to tread a fine line of making the comic work for new readers but also be of value to hardcore fans of the books, but i was left feeling like i was missing out on something (even though what was there did more or less make sense). on the plus side, this omnibus is freaking gorgeous. the paper and color quality is incredible, i really love it. in fact if they ever sell just the first volume without the bonus content book for cheaper its absolutely worth checking out. i imagine if youre a big fan of the books all the supplemental features here will impress you, it seems like they made an insane level of effort at accuracy etc. king has a new book in the series coming out and i hope that doesnt break this! |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Ugh, I did some serious damage at cheapgraphicnovels.com, which has DC Archives at 70% off (grabbed some Legion and Thunder Agents to fill in holes), and instocktrades.com, which has a lot of the same archives at a little less discount but also a lot of the DC Showcase for around $6 each. I decided to pass on some of the archives I'm not familiar with (Adam Strange, Hawkman, Blackhawk) and get them in supercheap Showcases instead.

Does instocktrades.com ship pretty fast? Just ordered a couple of the DC Showcases. Thanks for posting about it. |

Got a message late yesterday that my instocktrades order was ready to ship

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Thanks for the heads up on the cheapgraphicnovels Archives sale. I got 3 of the 5 Spirit Archives I was missing but found out that the other 2 are apparently out of print and going for ridiculous amounts right now. Shouldn't have waited. :(

It looks like Barnes &Noble is having a B2G1F offer on DC GN's right now.

BN is having Buy 2 Get 1 Free on DC Comics trades. DC has a format known as "Absolute Editions" where the book is extremely oversized (I think they're over a foot tall and about 8 or 9 inches wide). These usually just collect well known classic runs, not only for the story content but for the art (hence why the format is so large). Many of these Absolute editions qualify for the B2G1. And the B2G1 stacked with the "surprise" coupon from this past weekend, of which I had a 30% off coupon. The even better thing is apparently some pre-orders qualified for the B2G1, including upcoming Absolute Edition pre-orders.
I ended up ordering Absolute Batman The Long Halloween, Absolute Batman Dark Victory, and pre-ordering Absolute Batman and Robin: Batman Reborn. My 30% off applied on the most expensive book, Dark Victory. Long Halloween was free. And Batman and Robin is locked in as a pre-order to ship in January. After taxes, my average price per book ended up being about $38, which is a pretty significant savings on these books which run anywhere from $50 to $100 new. For those particular books, it was almost a 40% off discount. I was going to get Absolute Watchmen, but BN had it at $75, so even after discount it wasn't a great deal seeing how I've seen new and like new copies go for between $30-40 on eBay. |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Got my shipment from cheapgraphicnovels on Friday  Man, media mail is a marvelous thing, with five HC Archives costing $5.99 to ship. Plenty of filler paper stuffed in the box, and each book was in its shrink so no issues with the packaging.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Thanks for the tip on the DC Archive sale. I was able to replace a couple of books I lost in a flood a couple years back.
I got an email yesterday saying my shipment will be delayed until the week of Sept. 12th. No biggie - I got five DC Archives shipped for less than eighty-five bucks. I can wait a couple of weeks for that price. |
