Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Another one was the Batman by Snyder Omnibus, which unfortunately has already jumped back up in price. Right now I see the Nightwing: Prince of Gotham omnibus at 50% off.

I've noticed that Amazon has been quietly dropping the price on some of their DC omnibuses to historic lows. This Batman by Paul Dini omnibus is down to $64 as one example, which is nearly 50% off.

I think they are matching Target prices. Just picked up Conan Omnibus by Buzeck for 76 bucks. Amazon does a crappy job packaging their omnis. Giving Target a try. Plus with the red card it's another 5% off

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Hmm, it says free with my Prime membership but something about it feels like it's free... if I click the button to sign up for some sort of Kindle ComiXology Unlimited thing for more money. I really can't tell.

FYI, Target has a 25% off coupon for one toy, including all the Marvel Legends and DC McFarlane figures that have come out. Target has recently become the go-to destination for collectible toys.

I don't know about that... Unless you are getting a killer deal, don't preorder with Target. One, they will continually reauth your card (so don't use a debit card). Two, they will eventually get to a point if your stuff is in demand and not in stock that they send you emails saying "reply or we cancel it" and the time you have to respond gets shorter and shorter. One time they emailed me at like 5am in the morning and cancelled by 8am, on a Sunday, after weeks of playing that game with them. And whenever they get an exclusive, there is a ton of groaning from the fanbase, especially GI Joe Cobra Island.

Fujishig was right about the issues with Target and collectibles. A guy on a FB group I’m in ordered this figure and got the one below instead

That's not just a Target issue though. Unscrupulous Marvel Legends collectors (and I'm sure this happens with other lines I don't follow) are notorious for swapping pieces and returning to the store. I see crap like this everywhere. I don't expect employees at these stores to be able to discern this sort of fraud.

A lot of ten random DC trades from Zavvi. If you peck through the recommended items, you'll get a sense of what books you may get. $17 plus $5 shipping. Be aware these are editions made for the British market, so they don't have completely identical trade dress to the regular American editions.
https://us.zavvi.com/books/dc-comics.../12692208.html Most have been happy with what books they get. |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Five Below is carrying 4-packs of comic books again. This time around though, they are all Archie books (Archie, Betty & Veronica, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Batman 66 vs Archie, etc) with the exception of one book in some packs which is the True Believers reprint of Omega the Unknown #1. The 4-packs are $4 each.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I forgot to mention seeing Paul Dini's graphic novel at Five Below about his experience of getting mugged and beaten in real life. The story is told through the perspective of Batman's villains or something. Never read it, so I can't describe it much better.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
DeepDiscount has the Diamond Select Marvel Premier Thor Statue (based on the pose for the cover of Silver Surfer #4 by John Buscema) for $133.75. This statue came out back in 2016 and it was priced for $150. The statue sold out pretty quick at retailers but for some reason Diamond held back a huge stock of these statues and recently made them available to retailers for $200. DeepDiscount has the retail for the statue with the old price and the discount code DEEP10 takes an additional 10% off. I know Diamond sold out of the statue now, and what retailers have is what's available in the market. Also, the Silver Surfer statue that compliments this one will come out later this year.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Not really a deal but I didn't want to start a new thread.
For the first time in my life, Walmart is now carrying a small selection of trades from Marvel and DC with one shelf allocated to them in the wider book section. This is one of those Super-Walmarts that always gets the best stuff for media and has ample room space for just about everything. The discounts on the trades weren't that great - typically around 23% off suggested list price. The books I remember seeing were Watchmen TPB, The Batman Who Laughs TPB, Sean Murphy's White Knight TPB, among others. There were definitely Marvel trades as well but I am zoning out recalling which ones. I knew I could do better on the pricing but went ahead and picked up about the only trade I didn't already own to support seeing more trades at Walmart - The Batman Who Laughs. |
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I now remember the Marvel trades I saw at Walmart - The Infinity War and The Infinity Gauntlet.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Five Below has gotten in some very interesting fourpacks of relatively new DC Comics for $4. I saw Flash annuals, issues of Doomsday Clock, Death Metal and The Batman Who Laughs, not to mention regular issues from Suicide Squad, Justice League and Batman.
|
Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I would think that titles like Death Metal and Doomsday Clock would be incomprehensible to the kinds of customers those four-packs are aimed at.
