Amazon has now pulled the buy button and changed the release date to 2035. We'll see if the buy button comes back with a new SRP, which would increase our chances of getting the deal rather than their just making a new SKU for it.

Things From Another World, www.tfaw.com, is having their Black Friday Progressive Sale again. Lots of things are 60% off this week and 70% off next week. I tend to buy now just in case it goes out of stock later on. Some good omnibuses and hardcovers in the sale.

I see the sense in buying when the 60% goes live, but a lot of the stuff I was interested in from them is more medium-to-low priority. And I wanted to get a better sense of my budget, depending on what else was on sale in a variety of other stores and forms of media.

On Thursday I cleared out some of my Wish List of stuff I've gotten through the year elsewhere, and added in some new items. It went from 152 to 144. I identified 38 books I was interested in that were part of the sale (plus an oop Trade for 40% off), with a msrp of about $800, so waiting a day would save me $80+ over $7 tax, assuming nothing sold out.

The start time was bad for me, so 4 items had sold out already. I had one cc ready that I bought 17 books with about 2.5 hours after the 70% had started. I had another cc that I was waiting on funds to credit for, which showed up Friday evening. 2 more books had sold out by then, but I got 16 more.

So 33/39 that I would have liked. I disliked having to split my order into 2, and so paid more for shipping, but it is what it is, and $247.28 shipped (w/tax) for 33 titles averaging $7.50 each is definitely good enough. I'm especially looking forward to the GI Joe Complete Collection Volume 3, really a steal at 70% off. I just hope that none of these has been read in-store, or is damaged (none were N&D).

I definitely see you logic, but for me if it is a price that I am comfortable with a few bucks here and there isn't that big of a deal for me. I just consider it a security charge to ensure that I get what I want.
