Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
FWIW, all of the books in my jet.com order ended up coming from buy.com (rakuten). They were packed well.
I noticed Orion Omnibus would be about 25$ after $10 coupon.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Amazon randomly dropped the Neal Adams Batman Omnibus to $47.46. I thought it was a list-price change, but it's still showing as 53% off $99.99. I'll probably just wait to see if IST has it for 50% off, though, as it's not a critical purchase for me.

That omnibus' initial list price was listed as $75 before DC bumped it up to $100. I have less issues ordering large omnibuses from Amazon, their idiot shippers tend to pack the much heavier items in sturdier packaging.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Hmm, that would explain a percent increase but not a price drop in my shopping cart. Anyway, I remember when a few years ago they were changing the list price on these a lot, so I got some great deals from early pre-orders. In general, though, I'm trying to steer my business to IST.

A 45% off discount is, I believe, the highest they go for their general/publisher-specific sales.
For a long time they had DC Archives at 50% off, and their clearance sales can be up to 80 or 90% off, but those seldom include anything desirable.

I bought a ton of their DC clearance stuff for 50-60% off last time they had a 3 or 4 wave clearance sale. Sometimes more if I had the additional 2% discount running.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I think that has to do more with the publishers clearing out their warehouses, than IST actually clearing out their warehouse.
Other retailers had an influx of many if not most of those DC clearance trades around the same time IST did. But a lot of those retailers didn't offer the same level of discount. And I don't think DC is as prone to overprinting as Marvel is, so they generally have less to clear out.
Marvel overprints and clearances out stuff all the time. They've gotten slightly better about not overprinting with stuff like Omnibuses, but they still overprint most of their first run standard HCs and TPBs. Only they insist on remainder marking the books, so places like IST won't resell them because they're not actually in "new" condition after you bleed a giant black Sharpie through the pages. But they usually end up at BAM, Hastings, and a usual assortment of Amazon Marketplace dealers. If Marvel didn't remainder mark their books I bet IST would get in on some of that clearance action and there would be a lot of deals to be had.

A couple clearance sales at IST, with not a lot of titles I recognize. Also a BOOM sale with some interesting Duck titles but nothing I NEED.

Today is National Batman Day at specific retailers like Barnes and Noble. A free Batman comic is available and I know some of the digital collections are on massive discount at Amazon and iTunes.

Yeah, I picked up digital copies of "Monster Men" and "Gotham By Gaslight" for $1 a piece on Amazon.

Decent DC sale at IST, advertised as 300 titles up to 70% off, but most of the ones I'm interested in are more like 50%. Generally second-tier stuff, but enough of interest to tempt me to find $50 worth.

IST has numerous sales going on, including 45% off Marvel and Dark Horse, and a lot of classic comic strips from Fantagraphics.

Twomorrows is having it's annual quasi BF sale on books and Mags. 40% off (though I think they had a 50% off one during the summer).
Though I've only made a dent in what I bought from them last year, I still had to pick up the "Swamp men" and Monster Mash books, along with a couple Back Issues I was looking forward to this time last year that hadn't come out yet (primarily the one devoted to DC's 100 pg super spectaculars).

I highly recommend Monster Mash. It is a lot of fun.
I actually took a look and I have everything from them that I want currently. I was hoping their book "Comic Book Fever" was going to be part of the sale but I guess it is still too new.
