DC Elsewhere books?

This might be a very dumb question (in which I'll gladly delete this thread!), but at one point DC was publishing many books in its Elsewhere line (their equivelent of What If?). I haven't seen any Elsewhere books lately. Am I missing something or did DC stop publishing these?

Do you mean "elseworlds"? As far as I know, they don't really do them anymore. You can still get trades of some of the stuff, though.

Here's bit of info on the line:

I actually hadn't known they were gone. It was a fun kind of event when they weren't as prolific.

Gotham by Gaslight remains one of the classic Elseworlds stories and one of my favorites. A lot of them are downright silly, but some of them are brilliant. It was interesting to see how fresh a lot of these characters were when put into another context.

Wasn't there one where Superman lands in a government facility and is raised by the US government? (Or maybe Russia?)

I think you're referring to Superman: Red Son (he was raised by the Russian government)

Well that would explain why a Google search didn't help! Thanks!

Elseworlds are awesome. I still wish they would do them, but I'm sure they'll start again sooner or later. I guess they had to focus on the main DCU with all the Crisis stuff of the last two years.

Sounds like Superman/Batman Generations is considered part of that line? I thought TPBs 1 and 2 were a good read.

It is. I can second TPB 1. Never read the second though.

Superman/Batman Generations was great. Such vibrant imagination.

I think the comics industry has finally recovered from the gloom and doom of the 80s and 90s.

Second that. It was also the first elseworlds book wasn't it? It was so popular that every subsequent Esleworlds book featured Batman. I love the character but c'mon! Some of them were good (Bats as a Vampire) but some I found unintentionally funny (Bats as a Green Lantern).

Also love Red Son.

I thought so too. I really hope DC does a TPB of Generations 3.

I believe Kingdom Come was first published under the Elsewords banner. Other favorites of mine are Alan Davis's Legion of Superheroes Elseworld ("Superboy's Legion") and his two JLA Elsewords ("The Nail" and "Another Nail" -- the first one is much better, in my opinion).
