Just as long as the list isn't all about floppies.

dadaluholla 12-13-06 09:54 AM

Why do you call them floppies exactly?
:)

bishop2knight 12-13-06 10:05 AM

You know, I have no idea. I guess because, umm, you know, they're floppy, where as the trades are, umm, more sturdy. :D

I couldn't wait anymore, so I posted a "Best of" thread. Sorry to steal someone's thunder...

No thunder stolen here. I'm so busy with work right now that I probably wouldn't have gotten around to starting the thread anyway.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that this week's 52 was outstanding.

'Cause of the way they flop over in the "Hey Kids! Comics!" roto-racks?

I haven't read it yet. I didn't pick up my pulls this week or last week.

I believe #32 came out on Dec. 6th, so I'm assuming that's the latest issue. I might be mistaken, obviously, since I don't read monthlies.

exharrison 12-16-06 07:44 AM

^33 came out the week before or so.

blakader 12-16-06 07:58 PM

thanks for the replies

I will definitely be getting this, since I sold off my Dragon collection years ago. Always enjoyed the book though.
:)

Worth a blind buy?

I posted this in the the dvd forum but it needs repeating...

Ok, I finally picked up the Justice League Unlimited S1... Wow, just wow. Due to not having cable when JLU was on I didn't get to catch the eps. But I knew this series was good from following the JLU threads. But now, seeing it for myself, I'm just amazed at where this series went. From the countless heroes both well known and obscure that pepper the scenes, to the amazingly mature storylines, this series just wreaked of Class, great writing, and so much more.

I really feel like someone, and a very wise someone at DC/Time Warner, had the good sense to let Timm and his gang do their thing with little interference. I mean hell, Cadmus, Amanda Waller , Hawkgirl's return, and the way they worked the characters from "Superfriends" back into the JL series in such a creative way, having a good portoin of the JSA appear and they even had an ep or two after not allowing them to appear during a time travel ep in the 1st season.

It'll be a looong time before we see another comic based series with this level of goodness.

Thanks, robo, you just cost me 24 bucks!

Really, I've read many good things on the series but this pushed me over the edge. I didn't get around to picking up the regular Justice League discs so I figured I'd just hold off and get them in order someday but figured, why wait? I'll watch them over the holiday break with my sons and hopefully have a blast.

I hope you'll enjoy it like I did. I can't wait for the next Boxset. :)

Justice League Unlimited season 2 was a straight up love letter to, not only comic fans, but fans of the Timmverse. I still believe the Cadmus story was so much more rewarding than everything that went into Infinite Crisis (they were going down at the same time). That story was just so tight.

Robo, did you skip over Justice League season's 1 and 2? One was a little rough, but season 2 of that was really well done as well.

Sessa17 12-21-06 12:13 PM

IMO, there probably will never be a superhero cartoon up to the quality of JLU ever again IMO. I never saw it either when it was on TV, the first time I watched them was on complete season DVDs & I was just blown away. The geeky glee I got on the Season 2 set, when I saw in the opening credits an episode written by Warren Ellis, & so many other great moments, the show had so much heart & creativity, I just can't see how it well ever be matched. Especially looking at the shallow crap Marvel is putting out with there current animated DVDs, that recent Fantastic Four cartoon, the new & awful Batman Strikes stuff. It is just so sad that JLU had to end so soon.

stingermck 12-21-06 03:20 PM

Finally made it to the comic store and picked up a few.

GI Joe AE #18 - GI Joe was the first comic I started collecting, so I'll read it no matter what. No Matter how much I dislike the AE series, the snails pace of the arc, and Casey's writing. All of his changes did not work. However this issue, finally drew his storyline (18 issues long) to a close. It was a good ending, and can definitely take the series into a better direction if they let it. Sometimes a book just has to go back to its core, and for this one it has to be Joe VS Cobra.

JLA #4 - Its all good, what else can I say

Catwoman #62 - So thats the baby daddy? Oh well, not my choice.

Nightwing #127
- Nice to see Dick realizing how much hes screwed things up lately, while being buried alive. Maybe this was Wolfman's swipe at the previous arc.

Punisher #42 - Always read it, but prefer the urban stories over the political.

Supergirl #12 - Terra's Back. Next please

Witchblade #102 - Sure are a lot of babies and young children in comics lately. But a decent setup for the upcoming changes.

I was able to see S1 and S2 more or less when they were on. I could catch the repeats at work. Then they totally changed the repeat times and from that point on I missed the series. Purchasing S1 and S2 or JL allowed me to catch eps I missed. Either way I missed ALL of JLU when it was on TV and although I bought the individual JLU dvd's they released, this complete JLU S1 allowed me to catch up on the whole season.

I liked S1 and S2 of JL a lot but when JLU arrived I knew we had something awesome.

I haven't read this issue yet but I thought they revealed the Father's identity a few months back? Or is this some new twist?

I've fallen behind on that series, around issue six or so, but I really liked Casey's take on the team. I didn't read the series right before, but I liked the scaled back cast (at least for the issues I read). It was easier to keep tabs on things.

How was the series that came right before? Any good?

Trevor 12-22-06 12:05 PM

I guess we should move all these comic threads to the new sub-forum?

Bronkster 12-22-06 03:44 PM

What's that? A new Comic Book Sub-Forum?? Tell me more!
