Comic Q - Civil War
 

I recently got back into comics (used to read my brothers) with the Civil War story arc. Can someone explain to me why there are so many issues? Are they the same comic just numbered differently? Example: Wolverine # 43, 44 etc.. I was on Marvel's site checking for other issues I might not have read and saw that and got all kinds of confused! :confused:

Also, can someone list the Civil War comics that have come out already? I know there is going to be a lot of tie ins..

The covers to all of the Civil War tie-ins are meant to look pretty much the same as the mini-series they spin out of, but they're just issues in the current runs of the titles in question.

If you've been out of comics for a while, I think a friendly neighborhood comic shop employee should be able to point out the different titles. :)

As for a checklist, I think a lot of the tie-ins and the mini-series have a page devoted to that. At least, I'm pretty sure they do. ;)

I am not even 2 blocks away from Mid-Town Comics in NYC, the guy there is a JERK!! he's like the comicbook guy from the Simpson's.. He seems to have no desire to explain anything to me..

There are things that I hate talking to men about (most of them anyway) sports, cars and comics! LOL..

I think you can make due with just the main civil war book and spider-man. Then get whatever else you think you might like. I don't think they are needed for the most part but hey maybe I'm missing something.

Oh and someone needs to hit tony stark in the back of the head. Next time I see him pow, kling, KA-Plunk right in the back of the head.

i strongly recommend picking up Civil War: Frontline.

Yeah, i'm eagerly awaiting to see which X-Men side with Stark..

Do you know if all the Frontlines are out? I saw on ebay they have a few Frontline # 1's..

I have found two neighborhood (near home not work) comic book stores that I thought no longer existed! yippee for me :)

What's the deal with The house of M?? is this a totally different story arc?? Am I going to be putting all my $ on comics now?!?! ugh!

Frontline #2 just came out last week, so 3 through 10 are obviously yet to be published.

Yes, I agree. And actually, after reading #2, I got to thinking about some more issues. I think the scene with Speedball being roughed up in prison and not given a lawyer was obviously analagous to the Guantanimo Bay situation, but, to just totally turn the liberal/conservative thing on its head, what if you looked at Speedball as representing an American soldier in Iraq who was accused of war atrocities?

I believe the success of the Civil War series requires that the reader continues to be sympathetic to the political and ethical motivations of BOTH sides---and so far, I think they're doing a fairly good job with that.

Due to budgetary constraints, I'll just be sticking with

Civil War
Frontline
Fantastic Four

Hopefully I won't miss too much.

Like the original poster, I'm a new reader who's just getting back into comics, since drifting away from them as a kid around '79 or '80. I have to compliment Marvel on making the series very accessible to someone like me, who was really only familiar with the characters from 25 years ago.
