Re: The One and Only: The Complete Peanuts Collection - 1950-2000
Great news. I like the look of the hardcover volumes on my shelf but wouldn't mind getting some of these for my favorite years. List is $22.99 (hardcover is $28.95, so not a huge difference).

Hey Charlie Brown: you had one job! For the new softcover editions, we redesigned The Complete Peanuts inside and out, as you can see in these snapshots of a just-arrived advance copy of the kick-off volume, The Complete Peanuts 1950-1952. Looks pretty snappy, huh?Even if you've been collecting the hardcover volumes, you'll want to have these affordable paperbacks around for the kids and for loaning out or giving as gifts to friends and relatives, and of course the brilliance of Charles M. Schulz's beloved strip endures no matter what the format. Pre-order your copy (it'll be available a couple of months from now) and read a free excerpt right here. - See more at: http://www.fantagraphics.com/index.p....q81PKoxO.dpuf

Anyone else annoyed that they have Sally on the cover of the last book instead of Charlie Brown? Also, when are they going to announce the plans for whether or not they will have a box set for the final two years?

I mentioned it in the retro comics thread that the rumor is that the plan is to create a 26th volume with unreleased art and interviews. It would be assumed that they would release a box set at that point. Otherwise, I would not expect them to make a box for just one volume. We'll probably know the answer before Volume 25 is released.

They're being very tight-lipped, or just don't like me pestering them on Facebook and Twitter.

I bought the first two editions before I realized what I was getting into. I'd still love to own these, but probably not.

Finally got an answer from Fantagraphics regarding the final release(s).

Thanks for asking. Due to the overwhelming demand by collectors to have a complete set of slipcases we've decided to created a 26th volume with extra material that will then be released with a final boxed set. This will be available in late 2016.
Thank you for collecting.

I don't know about how they do it today, but after the first few books came out and I bought them separately, I was able to order a slipcase for them from Fantagraphics. No idea if they still do that though.

I called Fantagraphics a couple of days ago and asked about their plans for Volume 26 and whether the slipcases were available separately.
Yes, as already posted, there will be a boxset later next year with two final volumes.
No, they are not selling the slipcases separately.

All the Peanuts books have just been put on Comixology. I smell a very expensive sale in the works. Crap.

I got the first three boxes and haven't finished reading those. I need to pick up the next one (63-66), looks like it's disappearing judging by Amazon third party pricing.

Re: The One and Only: The Complete Peanuts Collection - 1950-2000
I bought most of the volumes three years ago and now wait for next year's final box set. I'm slowly working my way through the strips with great enjoyment. I'm in the middle of 61-62 now, finding meanings in panels that were over my head when I read them originally in the SF Chronicle as a junior high school student.
P.S. Monday, December 7, will be not only the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, but also the 11th anniversary of the start of this thread. How many other threads have been active for that long on DVDTalk?
