I have a subscription to several Marvel comics right now and so far they've come in really good condition. They usually do come a little later than I'd like, but sometimes they come early too. Either way, with the current deal of 13.50 and no shipping, I don't think it can be beat.

I've never subscribed direct, but I've mostly heard bad things about the process. Mostly the comics arriving damaged, erratic shipping schedules, and missing issues.

As far the erratic shipping schedules, I've heard of people getting their books out of order, or not receiving anything for months at a time and then getting all of the "late" books within a very short period of time.

I'd say its a crapshoot at best.

The best option would probably be to use a mail order comic shop like Westfieldcompany.com, Mailordercomics.com, khepri.com, g-mart.com, milehighcomics.com, or dcbservice.com .

As to reasons for not using the services of a local brick and mortar shop, it usually comes down to not having a shop near enough to be convenient, poor service/selection, or the discounts from mail-order are attractive.

Where do you get that price?

If you buy enough titles, you should look into a mail order comic book service like www.mailordercomics.com

The titles are all discounted and you can pick up trade paperbacks, hardcovers, toys, novelties, magazines. Anything in the Previews catalog.

I am in the process of switching fully to www.dcbservice.com

I was with Westfield for 20 years, but the discount at dcbs is much larger. 35% off minimum, with dozens of titles 50-75% off every month.
