Please Recommend A Good Psychological Thriller/Horror Novel
I've been in the mood to read a good psychological thriller/ horror novel for some time, but haven't had much luck searching goodreads.com or Amazon. Just wondering if anyone here that is a fan of the genre has any suggestions or recommendations. I've been through all the popular bestsellers out there such as Stephen King, Dean Koontz and Thomas Harris, but was hoping to find something genuinely scary and thought provoking that has somehow slipped under the radar. Thanks!

A Headful of Ghosts and The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay. Both novels were ambiguous about whether there was an actual supernatural at play (and I think that ambiguity is what accounts for many of the negative Goodreads reviews). Both were relatively short and effective (I thought) at building up tension and atmosphere, while leaving you something to think about at the end.
I really enjoyed Sarah Pinborough's Behind Her Eyes. Blurbs compared it a lot to The Girl on the Bridge (which I'm assuming was mainstream enough for you to have heard of and probably read), and the negative Goodreads reviewers were mostly people who couldn't handle it when things went in a very different direction than that book. Though if you're a fan of King and Koontz I wouldn't think that would be a problem. This is certainly a book that is best if you go into it knowing as little as possible.

Read The Hot Zone. Although it's based on actual events, it's definitely a thriller. Richard Preston is an excellent storyteller.

Not so much horror but House of Leaves is a book I'll never forget.

14, The Fold, and to a lesser extent Paradox Bound by Peter Clines. Thrillers, horrors, and/or sci-fi reminiscent of King.
14 and The Fold are in the same "universe", along with other Clines novels.
