Finished:
My second Tremblay book (after Head Full of Ghosts). Like that one, this had the positives (for me) of strong characters, emotional intensity, and literary writing quality. It also walked an ambiguous line over whether there was an actual supernatural element or not (something I know annoys some readers looking for everything to be spelled out, but I can appreciate from time to time). My main criticism was that this felt a bit padded out, even at only ~260 pages (though I understand how this otherwise would've come in at an awkward length of being too short for a stand-alone novel but too long for a novella). I can easily see this making a great gut-wrenching low-budget movie (pretty easy to film having only 7 characters and mostly taking place at a single location). Though there's a key plot element that would require prospective filmmakers have a lot of guts to tackle:
.
Next I'm moving on to something lighter:
I really enjoyed 14 and The Fold, and so far this seems to be the light breezy read that I was in the mood for (and doesn't have the Lovecraftian horror of Clines' other books so far).

Finished Stephen King - It. I've heard that King isn't good at endings, but this one was pretty good.
Started Don Norman - The Design of Everyday Things (2013 revised edition). It's free on the internet!

I downloaded “Exhalation” from Ted Chiang, which is a compilation of his short stories. After reading an article about it the stories all sounded interesting. This is the same guy that wrote the story that was adapted into the movie “Arrival.”
I’ll be starting it in a few minutes.

I just started re-reading Star Wars Battlefront II Inferno Squad earlier tonight along with reading some more of the Bronze Age volume 1 trade of Swamp Thing.

Almost done with Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb. Mid-'90s fantasy that's super heavy on interior stuff and intrigue. This is the second in the Farseer trilogy and I'm loving it.
