What are some good sports autobiographies?
I've read so many I can't list them all. Preferably to do with running or cycling or triathlons but any sport will do. I love autobiographies that detail training or actual doing of the sport.

Peter Crouch's How To Be a Footballer is supposedly excellent but I haven't read it.

Living on the Edge by/about Lawrence Taylor was a favorite of mine growing up.

Have a Nice Day by Mick Foley. Although you may not look at wrestling as a sport (I don't) it has athletics and Foley's tale has everything great sports stories do.

It's Only A Mountain by Sam Nall. I read this several years ago after seeing a TV segment on this amazing father/son duo, Dick and Rick Hoyt. It looks like Dick has written a book of his own since then - Devoted: The Story of a Father's Love for His Son.

I've looked over all of them and nothing has grabbed me yet Although I just got My Marathon by Shorter, I'll give it a try. I finish about one book for every 10 I start but EVERY single book I finish I have totally loved. My library doesn't have the Sam Nall book, I'm going to request it (they've only NOT bought one book after all the requests I've made in the past two decades... I didn't realize until two months ago that they've been buying all the books I've asked for ).

Mostly retired sportsman write such surprising autobiographies with great thrill. Here are some of my favourites.
Ali: A Life (my damn favourite)
Beware of the Dog by Brian Moore
I Think Therefore I Play by Andrea Pirlo (2013)

I hadn't noticed this last reply. I requested Beware of Dog as a library purchase. I checked out Ali, even though I never had any interest in the sport or his life, and I'm hooked on the writing style. I may have myself a book! (or had it found for me ) Thanks!
