Finished:
https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1377284428l/16278318.jpg I was prepared for it, but still a big come-down from Ready Player One. It's like Cline is stuck between writing about real people who happen to love 80's pop culture (which is the vibe I got from RPO) and characters who talk and act like they're right out of a bad 80's movie (which is what Armada felt like). Every time the book came close to really getting me into things, Cline would ruin it with some clunky dialog or description (every page having a dozen 80's references gets old really fast). |

Finished: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Reading: The Horse and His Boy I finally finished Wages of Destruction by Adam Tooze. I enjoyed it right to the end, but what a doorstopper of a book. I had to re-check it from the library a couple times. Resuming The Dark Tower book 3 by Stephen King. |

Finished Stephen King -- The Dark Tower III: The Wastelands So far I'm enjoying the series. But I'm running down. King seems to be so determined to make this world horrible that it's getting tiresome. |

Finished: The Shadow Girl by Ray Cummings. Time travel science fiction from 1929. Badly written but with good ideas at its core.

I read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe following the broadcast of the animated special on TV. I tried reading either The Voyage of the Dawn Treader or The Silver Chair but I did not get very far at that time. I read The Magician's Nephew a few years ago and I'm rereading it now. It's probably my favorite book in the series. I might reread The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and Prince Caspian before finishing with The Last Battle. http://i.imgur.com/3WewlIQ.jpg Finished: The Silver Chair Rereading: The Magician's Nephew |

anybody else reading Seveneves by Neal Stephenson? I think this is an even more technical space book then The Martian.

Just finished:
https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1321409808l/12392681.jpg Mieville packs more imagination in one book that most authors show in their entire careers. Being technically YA, this is extremely accessible. But it's certainly something that should appeal to any age (and of course fans of Mieville's other books). |
