The Three Investigators #15, 17, 21, and 23 are available for amazon Kindle
 

I loved this series when I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s. They've been out of print for a long time.

I don't even own a Kindle. I bought paper copies of these books at eBay many years ago, after having given away my originals as a teenager. But I thought others here might like to know about these being available for Kindle.

These are very smart books, and far more enjoyable than the Hardy Boys, in my opinion.

Too bad none of the ones by series creator Robert Arthur (the first 9, and #11) are available for Kindle, as those were the best. It seems weird to start with these later ones, but I guess there's probably some legal reason for not releasing the earlier ones.

Each book is pretty self contained and self explanatory, so it's perfectly OK not to start at the beginning. But the ones by Arthur really are the best, and for the sake of preservation, I hope they get released for Kindle.

I loved these when I was a kid. Had several of them. Matter of fact, pretty sure I had the Flaming Footprints and the Invisible Dog books.

That said, I don't think I'll buy these. Just don't think I would like them as much 35 years later.

I didn't realize they also have Encyclopedia Brown books on Kindle. Talk about reliving your childhood.

I don't remember these as a kid, but I went ahead and ordered an early one off Amazon. Maybe my 13 year old (or 8 year old self) will like it.

I read these as a kid, and I have to say it was a PITA trying to find them at the library when some people filed them under "Hitchcock" and some people filed them under their individual authors. :lol:

I've definitely bought kindle editions of some of my childhood series, and for under three bucks I'll probably get one to see how it holds up.

One of my kids liked Encyclopedia Brown so that was fun to revisit. She also liked Nancy Drew, which I never read as a kid. I had a friend who was a Hardy Boys nut so I know I borrowed a bunch of those.

Here's one of the ones I bought: $1.99 for 1000 pages. I'd get other stuff like this if it were available.

Another reader of these as a child. I liked looking for the hidden Hitchcock on the covers (of the UK volumes - not sure if they were on the US ones).

Other adventure books I enjoyed at about the same time (9-10ish) were those by Willard Price , I seem to recall starting and enjoying Malcolm Saville's Lone Pine ones but only read a few having by then a) just discovered the science fiction section in the library and b) been given the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings for Christmas!

EDIT: just remembered that at the same time as I was picking up the Willard Price series from my local library I was also selecting John Pudney's series of kids tales:
Monday Adventure; Tuesday Adventure; Wednesday Adventure; Thursday Adventure; Friday Adventure; Saturday Adventure; Sunday Adventure; Spring Adventure; Summer Adventure; Autumn Adventure; Winter Adventure. Just writing the list makes me want to mine Abebooks for these long out of print works the precise plot details of which now sadly elude me!
