Can anyone help me find the name of this crime book?
 

I'm not sure what the name is of this book and I only remember a few things about the plot. It was a murder and blackmail type of story where someone was murdered, a person's fingerprints were on a bottle, and if that person didn't comply with the bad person then the bad person would hand the bottle over to the police.

I know that isn't a lot to go on, but if you have any idea of what the book might be called I'd appreciate it.

Do you have any more info like the year you read it, protagonist, etc.? Maybe even the cover art design of the book if you remember. As-is it's pretty tough to go on just fingerprints on a bottle, which is pretty generic and has probably been a plot device in hundreds of stories over the years.

Sadly I don't. I think the protagonist was a detective, but that again could be a ton of stories. I do think it was an older book too. I'm not sure of the decade, but it's not to my knowledge one of the Hard Case Crime books, and I'm very sure it's not anything by Chandler or Hammett.
