Trying to remember fairy tale/ fantasy books that I read when I was young.

When I was in preschool, late 80's, I remember being read by my teacher at school. They were these fantasy fairy tale books and I'm trying to remember what line of books they were.
The books were more like pamphlets or something small and thinner then a book. They were like on a magazine rack or comic rack and they were, i think?, white and with large illustrations on the cover. I wanna say I remember a dragon being on the cover of one.
It wasn't a specific authors or a choose your own adventure, I think they were just fantasy storys for kids that were printed this way. I know this is an obscure question, but if anyone has a clue to what they were that would be awesome.

Little Golden Books have been around since the 1940s. I don't think they tend to have white covers, however.

I was a happy and carefree child. I read this book. I decided to know who I really am. Turns out that I'm a grumpy, pessimistic, antisocial misanthrope. Those bastards ruined my life!

How about the wonderful The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander? Too advanced for pre-school, though.

^I loved those as a kid and they were the first books I thought of when I read the title of this thread.

It was a shame that Disney left that series stuck with that awful animated movie they did.

^That's true, but maybe they're better off left in our imaginations.

The Prydain Chronicles (the 5 books pictured and a book of short stories) are available for less than $5 each on Kindle.

The Prydain Chronicles are still to this day my favorite books of all time (even though it's been at least 28 years since I last read them). Lloyd Alexander is the only author I ever wrote (and he wrote me back!) It's funny, I thought about those books for the first time in years today when I saw that they are turning Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams into an animated movie:

and I thought about the terrible crime Disney perpetrated.

To be fair, Disney has tried pretty hard to hide it and forget about it ever since, too.

I never watched the series, but wasn't the Gummi Bears considered a more proper adaptation (believe it or not)?

I grew up with the Dell Yearling covers:

Some OP's have no manners at all! They ask a question and either never return to check for an answer, or else they get an answer and never bother to say thank you to the person who gave it to them! It's such a "me, me, me" world nowadays. So sad!
