Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Amazon just launched this Wednesday. I think it warrants its own thread. I started yesterday (didn't find out about it until then). I'll keep this first post updated now and then, and one of us can post the daily deal info daily :) (link remains the same).
The "regular" price may be lower than the digital price, it's the regular Amazon price. http://amazon.com/kindledailydeal Wednesday 8/25/11: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, $1.39, regular price $5.59 Thursday, 8/26/11: Like Water For Elephants, $2.99, regular price $6.99 Friday, 8/27/11: Elizabeth Street - $1.99, regular price $7.99 Saturday: Food, Inc. - $1.49, regular price $8.52. |
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Yeah, as I mentioned in the e-book thread I bought Elizabeth Street yesterday (thought about getting it a while back so procrastination pays off), and that's a nice price for Food Inc.

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Thanks for starting this thread picked up Food Inc

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
The Lincoln Lawyer. $2.99 / $7.99. http://www.amazon.com/Lincoln-Lawyer...d_i=1000677541
My pleasure I love Amazon deals :) |
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
I check the Kindle top 100 paid and free and it usually is a good indicator of what is on sale. I have picked up a ton of free short stories or the first book in a series. It seems a good marketing ploy, give you a little taste and try to get you to get the whole collection(short stories) or series.

Ah, I forgot to make a decision about the Food Inc deal and missed it. Got The Lincoln Lawyer, though.

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
I've been waiting for Amazon to do something like this for a long time.

Thanks, GatorDeb. I passed on the previous two deals but am thinking about Poke the Box.

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
I am having a hard time finishing each book before the next one goes on sale!

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Patrick Lencioni's The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, $2.99/$24.95
|
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Dysfunctions of a team's regular price is only $8.XX :) ebooks are rarely sold at the digital list price. It's $4.49 right now.
Today's deal is Battleship Earth, which apparently has many fans as the book form is good campy fun as opposed to the movie. $3.82/$0.99 http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-Ea...d_i=1000677541 |
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
While not a part of this daily deal program, figured it's worth mentioning that Richard Stark's (a.k.a. Donald Westlake) The Score (a Parker novel) is currently available for free on the Kindle. A great way to introduce yourself to this fantastic crime series if you're not familiar with it. :)

Thanks. I've been wanting to try the Parker books. I noticed that this is the fifth book in the series. In your opinion, will I be missing anything if I start here instead of reading them from the beginning?
Bought it. Thanks, Geofferson. |
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Also not a daily deal, but Amazon is offering 18 Kurt Vonnegut books for $3.99 each: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=s9_al_bw...rd_i=133141011

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
The Parker series doesn't have to be read in order to be appreciated. There is a modest amount of carryover in story from book to book, but not enough to worry about.

re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
Thanks for the responses. I may just start from the beginning with the Parker books anyway, since the first, second and fourth are currently discounted to $2.66 each.
1 - The Hunter http://www.amazon.com/Hunter-Parker-..._tit_1_rsrsrs1 2 - The Man With The Getaway Face http://www.amazon.com/Man-Getaway-Fa..._tit_2_rsrsrs1 4 - The Mourner http://www.amazon.com/The-Mourner-Pa..._tit_4_rsrsrs1 |
re: Amazon Kindle Deals (daily or otherwise)
That's a great deal. They are definitely worth 3 bucks each! I'm tempted to get them myself, even though I already have multiple paper copies of each.
