The Hard Case Crime Methadone Thread
 

With Hard Case Crime on hiatus, I thought it'd be helpful to have a thread on HCC-style books from other publishers.

This just showed up in my Amazon recommendations:

I have the previous volumes, and they are awesome. If you search the Kindle store, you'll find a couple dozen other Spillane novels, most of them long out of print.

I'm about halfway through, and so far there hasn't been a bad story, though some of them contain a heavy dose of sexism.

Good idea -- there are other options to get our hard-boiled fix.

Also, University of Chicago Press is in the middle of reprinting Richard Stark's (i.e., Donald Westlake) Parker books in very handsome trade editions -- highly recommended

For fans of Donald Westlake and Lawrence Block (two staples in the HCC arsenal), later this month Subterranean Press will be releasing an omnibus with several of their very early 'sleaze' novels. Definitely a curiosity for fans of these guys -- I already have my copy pre-ordered. More info at the link.

For those that enjoyed the 3 Quarry novels by Max Allan Collins as part of the HCC line, you will probably like to know that Perfect Crime Books has re-released the first 5 Quarry novels in trade paperback w/ an afterward from Collins. These novels have been long out-of-print, so nice to see another indie publisher bring back some forgotten classics.
