Re: Books on Trees and Shrubs...

Here's a few nice books with facts about, and identification images of, hundreds of types of trees:

Nationwide in one book: www.amazon.com/Trees-North-America-Identification-Revised/dp/1582380929

A set of three books, split up into regions:
www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Western-Peterson-Guides/dp/0395904544/
www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Eastern-Peterson-Guides/dp/0395904552/
www.amazon.com/Field-Guide-Trees-Shrubs-south-centralCanada/dp/039535370X/

Re: Books on Trees and Shrubs...

Those recommendations are good; I have all those books. (I'm a college biology professor).

However, for a single-volume resource I would also highly recommend David Sibley's guide to trees.
