Name the best NORMAN MAILER book
I heard his Marilyn biography is probably the best book on Monroe. I'm reading The Executioner's Song (about Gary Gilmore), and it's good.
I know he did some WWII books. What else of his is worth a read? |

I don't know what the best book on Marilyn Monroe is, but it can't be Mailer's, which seemed to me to be less about Monroe and largely about himself. I like Mailer's political coverage of conventions and demonstrations. "Armies of the Night" on the 1967 march on the Pentagon is excellent. "The Presidential Papers" on the 1960 race between Kennedy and Nixon, also. My favorite, though, is "Miami and the Siege of Chicago," on the events of '68. |
