Coffee table books (recommend some faves!)

Not that I really have the time to sit through some of these massive books, but you can't deny that some are lovingly done with great artwork. We recently purchased a huge bookcase for our den and now I have legitimate space to waste some money on large books. What are some of your favorites that you'd recommend? I'm open to more than music related books.

I have and love these:

Beatles "Anthology"
Bill Wyman "Rolling With The Stones"
Rolling Stone 1,000 Covers
The Art Book
The Photography Book
Our Century In Pictures

(just ordered: This Ain't No Disco, Factory Records Complete Graphic Album and Punk on 45: Revolutions on Vinyl 1976-79)

This one sits on my coffee table...

I grabbed it from Amazon for $10. A fun book to flip through once in a while.

Looks interesting Fist. I spent a few hours this morning pouring over stuff on Amazon. Using Bookfinder.com I was able to find tons of great deals.

I typically keep a good rotation of books by Taschen on my coffee table.

If you're into horror movies the Friday the 13th book "Crystal Lake Memories" is not only a good read it has a lot of great pictures and info the DVDs don't.

And if you're in Sinatra there's a neat one of him that is mainly pictures. I forget the name but its mainly white and is on clearance at many bookstores. I picked mine up for $4

I'd look for something like Ireland from the air or above Europe in the bargain section at b&n. They always seem to have a lot of those books on sale

Agree with the Taschen recommend. Their books are the finest, I think.

I've had several people remark about how cool this book that sits on my coffee table is (and I agree).

Re: Coffee table books (recommend some faves!)

Sebastian Kruger has a couple of cool books out that showcase his paintings. (One is mostly Rolling Stones artwork--he's a friend of the band, esp. Keith). Another diverse suggestion is one of the Pinball Compendium books by Michael Shalhoub: the 1982-present volume for modern machines, the 1970-1981 if you like the classic EM games, and the 30's-60's volume for the real oldies. Each book has tons of cool pictures (playfields and backglasses), info on the game and industry, and lots of background/interviews of the people in the industry. Nice to look at and good reading too!

If you're into exploitation films then this is a great book:

Even if you aren't into exploitation fare it's still pretty awesome.
