Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
<img src="http://www.fantasticdamage.com/blog/bookrs1.gif">
Never played before? Here's some praise for the game: Spoiler:
<ul>Rules<br> <li> The object of the game is to out-think everyone by picking answers to questions that are the most common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font>) or least common (<FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font>), but still correct. <li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">Sheep</font> question: "Name a famous book by Tolkien." A good answer would be The Hobbit and a bad answer might be The Silmarillion. <li> Example <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">Reverse Sheep</font> question: "Name a character in Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings". Bilbo Baggins might be a bad answer, but Ghân-buri-Ghân might be a good answer. (Unless everyone is trying to go as obscure as possible). <li> Sheep scores are tallied as negative numbers. Reverse Sheep scores are tallied as positive numbers. The lowest score wins. <li> The answers to each question are tallied up. Wrong answers in Reverse Sheep are scored two points above the most common answer. This penalty is multiplied by the Lightning Round Multiplier. Wrong answers in Sheep are not penalized. <li> Certain rounds are considered Lightning Rounds (designated by a multiplier, such as ×2). In these rounds, scores are adjusted by the <u>number on the multiplier</u>. A wrong answer still gets a +4 penalty in a ×2 round and a +6 penalty in a ×3 round, and so on. In a sheep round, a wrong answer scores normally. <li> You may not cheat by using Google, Wikipedia, etc. Use only what's in your head. <b>NEW!</b> A few questions (<b>√</b>) contain links to resources which you may check to answer that question. <li> Please send in your answers to me via PM. Place only one answer per line, without numbers or the question itself. Those who do not do this will be penalized 10 points right off the bat. <li> For your convenience, <a href="http://www.fantasticdamage.com/blog/BookR1.xls">I've made an Excel file</a> where you can prepare your answers. When finished, just select the column of answers and send that in as text via PM. Don't email me the Excel file, that would be silly. (<a href="http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tZYHNPvU3VS9r-_jpeVqkfw">Google version here</a>). <li> Note: Unless specifically mentioned in the question, all books need to be published books. If authors are named, publicly-known pen names are OK (Richard Bachman). <li> Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #F9DF00">S:</font>, Reverse Sheep questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #A3D867">R:</font>. <li> <b>NEW!</b> Equalizer Question(s) A few questions are Equalizer Questions. These are designed to make the mid- and late-game more competitive. These questions are marked by an <FONT style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #FF46B5">E:</font> in front of them. In these questions, all answers are grouped together as per usual, but the top 50% (rounded up) all have their answers count as Reverse Sheep questions, and the bottom 50% (rounded down) have their answers count as Sheep questions. You can send them with your answers if you wish. It won't count against you on formatting. <hr> NOTE: ALL IS FIXED! |
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
I'll likely play, but wanted to  @ googlemj23. Nicely played.
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Love the sheep games, but there's no way I could play this one. I can only answer about half of the questions.
= J |
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
I started to fill out the the google spreadsheet, but it seems to be messed up. Was I took quick on the draw?
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Are 3 and 20 the same?
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
wait 14 and 16 are the same too. is this on purpose?
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
It looks like the Google spreadsheet matches the answers here, but there are oddities (see Venusian's posts for details).
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Sounds like fun. After running two of these it'll be nice to sit back and watch the results roll in.
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Even with the healthy dose of Harry Potter, I couldn't answer many of the questions. I also like that in your example of the equalizer, you are beating both JasonF and myself.

Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire

Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Now if this one fills up before I submit my answers, I'll really be pissed.
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Yeah the Google spreadsheet is all fucked up.
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Question #1 could be quite controversial depending on what denomination's Bible you are using. ;)
Edit: I honestly have no clue what is going on with the Equalizer qs, and a big FU to The Bus for googlemjd23! |
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Your links on 7 and 8 are reversed, perhaps on purpose :P
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Host is AWOL. Is this whole game an elaborate prank?
|
Re: Book Talk (Reverse) Sheep — The Rise and Fall of the Sheep Empire
Why is there a musical and movie question for Book Sheep?
