I finished the first book last night and really enjoyed it. I'd heard it didn't have a satisfying resolution, so I was prepared for that. Luckily, it kept me interested the whole time, so I look forward to diving into the next book to see how the story continues.

I do agree with this point. A few of those scenes would've sufficed, but they just kept coming and coming.

Why is it that the first and third audiobooks are available on CD, but the second is not? Why? Why? Why do they torture us who want physical copies of things? Why?!

If you get a chance - try getting the first book on audio cd. It's read by Ron Perlman.

Picked up the audiobooks from my local library, I'm enjoying these, about a third of the way through the second book. GDT's visual sensibility doesn't have anywhere near as much flair on the page as it does on screen, some of the prose is pretty clunky, and the story itself-band of rebels in an apocalypse-is fairly standard. But his usual fascinations are all here for his fans, and Hogan helps him give the series a nice urban feel. It's OK. Still wish the second CD version of the second book was still in print, can't even find it on eBay.

Apparently they are, but lets we forget that they were looking to make Powers into a series too. We saw how well that went.

I've been hunting since my dumb ass tends to get confused while reading, but I haven't found one yet.

The second and third books aren't though, unfortunately. The new narrator isn't terrible, but he pales in comparison to Peralman and doesn't really have a lot personality.

True. I'm halfway in on The Fall audio recording, but I actually do like the narrator. He can do a plethora of accents, which Perlman may have been somewhat limited to. I loved the first book's narration, and also like the second one's so far.

The first and second books are available on iTunes, but not the third, and the first and third books are available on CD, but not the second. That's just damned irritating. My library has a copy of the second on CD, so I know it was available at some point, but now I can't find it even on eBay. Why wouldn't iTunes have all three? I can't get all three in the same format? That's really hugely annoying.

Finished the whole trilogy. Rather enjoyed it overall. GDT's not a prose writer, but he moves the whole thing along at a nice, brisk clip with Hogan.

Even if FX does pick this up for a series, I find it unlikely that it can handle the budgetary needs or will get the whole thing with multiple seasons, but one thing at a time, I suppose.

Bumping myself. Now that the first book has made it to air, I really want to finish the series, but I can't remember too much about the first two books. Does anyone have a summary of those books? If not, for those that read the third book, does it do a good job of refreshing the first two books?

I read the 3rd book like half a year after reading the first two and had no idea what was going on.* I dont think it had a good "previously on..." recap.

* I do have a terrible memory and am easily confused

I should point out that I haven't seen the show, and would like to finish the series before starting the show, so it's been years since I've had any type of contact with anything to do with the series. Guess I'll have to dive into the third book and hope that I can remember some things.
