Re: What are you reading? (March 2009)

I finished The Shack, and liked the first half, but hated the last half of it (when it got religious-y). I need to find something to cleanse my literary pallet from that gibberish, so I am thinking about the second Harry Bosch novel, or maybe something by Elmore Leonard.

Let us know what you think of Twilight? I saw the movie, and it was like watching paint dry. I know a few people that read the books just to keep up with what their daugthers were reading, and they basically said the books were just awful.

The Road was good, but man was it bleak (this from a person who reads a ton of apolyptic type books). I hope I'm not making a mistake by being agnostic because if hell is like this man is that gonna suck!

Twilight series was pretty crap, especially the romance bits. The main character was pretty annoying in how sort of passive she is. But I read all four books in about 4 days so they were obviously catchy. There are a couple of characters I liked a lot. Some of the history of vampires stuff was pretty good I thought. The ending, on the other hand, was just lame.

Since then I've been more or less on a zombie/plague fetish, and read these:

Not the best, mostly an action book, but not terrible, a quick read anyway.

This one was pretty good. Some seriously, seriously cringeworthy parts in it.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...SH20_OU01_.jpg

I have no idea where this story is going next, it's pretty different. It was pretty good, so I hope it's not a long wait until the next one.

It's not perfect, but I really liked this one, I'll be reading book 2 tomorrow. I'm kind of a sucker for women who kick ass.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...SH20_OU01_.jpg

I also fit this one in-between all the zombie books. I'm slowly reading all the hugo and nebula books that I've missed before--a lot of them arent' all that great but it's a good way to read things I'd skip otherwise. This one was ok, not great, but pretty good.
