Need help finding a book

It was read to my 7th grade computer class. (This was back in the mid 80's)

It was about future earth, where a alien race comes in and conquers earth, and it is up to one man to defeat the alien race. I have nothing else to go on, anyone that can start me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't think so? This felt more like immediate future..not humans have spaceships.. But I will definitely look that up.

Hot humid environment in an alien pyramid city built on earth? If so, that would be the White Mountains series. (I think it was a trilogy.)
