Considering IT and The Stand are two of his best works, I don't see a problem.

I'm so excited about this. My mother raised me on Stephen King books...she owned every single book he ever wrote, hardcover edition, up until Duma Key. I'm planning to display them somewhere at some point.

I wish she would've lived to see this come out and read it...she would've been thrilled to hear about it. The Stand was always her favorite.

Man you know I have read many of his books but for some reason I really don't have them any more. I think you just hit on my next hobby. I gonna try and collect all his stuff in hardcover and make a display book case for them. Thx for the idea abrg.

If it's a good book (and King can be very, very good) it can't be long enough. Unlike a movie you can take bathroom breaks (or if you're like me read while in the bathroom).

Also, not to wish Mr. King any bad health, I hope he is on coke again. King's best writing (IMO) was done while he was drunk and/or high.

You want him to write another Tommyknockers?

Liver&Onions 12-16-08 12:31 PM

I still haven't read IT.

I read somewhere that King claims he doesn't remember writing Cujo.

Although Tommyknockers and Cujo were (IMO) the worst of his earlier books, he was also drunk and high (although maybe not as much) when writing 'Salem's Lot, The Stand, The Shinning, Firestarter, Christine, The Talisman, Chjristine, and It. Some of his best books by far (again IMO).

You need to correct that immediately . . . and if you've seen the atrocious made-for-tv version, block that completely from your mind. :D2:

I can't wait to hear more about this tome. The Stand is my favorite King novel, so, in this case, size does not matter :)

You should bump up the challenge to collecting only first editions. If only I had deep pockets.....

That would be in his autobiography / book on craft, On Writing.

Fuck that! But I think those are the most expensive ones. My holy grail would be this limited edition 1st edition Skeleton crew.

I don't think you have to worry about copyright infringement when discussing the title as part of a review...

Here's a great site for info on first and limited editions: http://www.stephenkingcollector.com/

And I thought you could find anything on youtube ... can anybody else explain this with the clip from the Simpsons?

Most are reasonable but others, like the DT series, can run into some major bucks. A lot depends on condition since I'm sure you'll want to get 'em in near mint. If you're gonna do it, might as well do it right.

Now if you REALLY have deep pockets, go for signed first editions. I almost pulled the trigger on getting one during last summer's Comic-Con. One bookseller had one priced at $400.... I can't remember the title, though.

Larry C. 12-17-08 10:58 PM

$400 seems resonable for a signed first edition King novel. I wouldn't wanna throw that down with times so rough but yeah I'd pull the trigger. Thx Tom
