I started this with another book last month. Since the other was more Christmas related (and from the the library), I read that first and put this on the back burner. Now I'm picking it back up again. So far, so good.

Tom Banjo - Where in the series is this Ender novel? I read the Ender series years ago: Enders game, up through when he went to the colony with the bugs and found the new queen, but stopped when I began reading Enders shadow

Did I miss anything good by stopping there?

This one takes place between Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead, BUT it also takes place after Shadow of the Giant. This is his first attempt at trying to bridge the Shadow series back into the Ender series. There is supposedly a sequel to Children of the Mind coming that will complete this bridge.
So I'm not sure I could recommend this one without reading everything that's come before.
As for whether or not you missed anything good... honestly, the Shadow series is a very different beast compared to the Ender series. It's a lot more action-oriented, and can get convoluted to the point where it's hard to keep track of everything. I loved Ender's Shadow and Shadow of the Giant, but the 2 in between are only average IMHO.

Our local library branch shut down on the last Saturday of November, and they won't reopen until the new building is finished sometime in January. Because of this, they allowed us to keep books until the new building is open and I checked out three titles. I finished Johnny Cash's "Man in Black" overnight and the finished off Alec Guinness's "Blessings in Disguise." Now, I've turned my attention to Ronald Reagan's "An American Life."
