The antichrist

Having recently watched the Exorcist and The Omen (1976 version), it made me wonder if there are any good antichrist books out there. I find the whole antichrist lore to be rather fascinating, with its emphasis on hidden religious sects, ancient documents that must be uncovered in time, prophecies, sacred weapons, demonic possession, etc. While I don't believe in any of it, I find that it makes for some good stories.

If anyone has any recommendations, then I would be most appreciative. I should note that I'm aware of the antichrist books written by the authors of the Left Behind series, but I'm wary of reading anything by them (mediocre reviews).

The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Good Omens, and of course Left Behind.

I would recommend "The Chronicles of Wormwood" by Garth Ennis. Be warned that it's a graphic novel (ie, comic book).

It's filled with some particularly crude R-rated humor and it's among the most blasphemous things Ennis has written (which is no small feat), but it does have a strong philosophic core to go along with the dick jokes.

THE STAND is essentially an antichrist book, but it doesnt use any of the conventions you used above
