Wow, that collector's edition is beautiful. Preordered!

mh4268 07-31-08 11:30 AM

I pre-ordered it too. Looks like it might be limited to 100,000 copies worldwide. I can imagine that selling out really quick.

That's a gorgeous book, but I don't think there's anyway I can justify $92+ extra on it over the regular hardback. If it were more in the $50-$60 range, definitely.

Beautiful. Pre-ordered the collector's edition.

I would get the UK/CA standard edition to go with my UK/CA hardcovers of the series:

Same here. I would love to have it, but I just cannot bring myself to pay the $100 for it. It'll be the regular edition for me.

I might order both versions. The regular edition to read and keep the collectors edition sealed.

Damnit this reissue is going to kill the eBay value of the copy I paid $3,980,000 for at Sotheby's last year :(

Hmm ... I wonder if the collector's will actually sell out. I know it is not the same thing at all, but Amazon has always had a hefty price drop on the other HP collector's editions a few months to a year after release when they are just clogging up inventory.

This is what I'm hoping for, honestly. I'd love to have the collector's edition but the $100 tag is a lot. Only thing that concerns me is that since it is exclusive to them (unlike the deluxe editions of the book) they may do a limited production run based off their pre-sale results.

I'm tempted to get the collector edition too, but man, $100 plus tax? Oyi, i rather use the extra money for something else. Regular edition for me and will add the collector's edition in my wish list.

 my copy shipped out yesterday :)

soxfandoug 12-05-08 06:24 PM

I was selected and was able to purchase the CE yesterday for $70. I got the order in almost immediately, and I am really hoping I was one of the first 35 so I can get a copy that is signed by Rowling!

That would be awesome! Good luck!

UK Limited sold out. I think I'll pick up a UK hardcover to go with my HP hardbacks.

My Canadian copy arrived last week. I was surprised it's such a small book (not length-wise, but just size-wise it's small). And no dust jacket.

CE or regular?

I got my CE yesterday - pretty damn cool little book.

Came packed in a very large book looking case, with the name embossed on the front and spine. Then inside the actual book was nestled in a purple velvet bag with Rowling's signature threaded on it. And the book itself was very cool - the metal clasps/skulls/gems all look great. I didn't dork around with it too much though - as I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get damaged.

jmj713 12-10-08 04:59 PM

I got the regular edition, L&O.

MR Round 12-18-08 09:04 PM

I got my deluxe edition today and it was SIGNED! I love amazon

Ocelot 12-19-08 01:16 PM

^---- big deal... but yeah, congrats

it doesn't even worth $7 i got it from Overstock (shipped to me a day early, i was really surprised). I don't even like the Rowling's children foundation. I consider my purchase went for the good cause than getting some pleasure from reading the "book." Anyway, i hope the children get to see my money. I'm so glad i didn't buy the collector's edition, even at $50 it's still overpriced (didn't vote for it).
