Hard Case Crimes - Grave Descend Question (spoilers)
 

I took the plunge and picked up a few Hard Case Crimes novels, based on what I have read about them in these forums.

Now I understand what people mean about books you can't put down - I read Grave Descend in a single evening. The dialog-heavy nature of the story makes it a quick read, which helps. I liked that the book didn't have any slow sections, and had a great ending.

There are two things I missed while reading that I am hoping someone can explain to me:

1. Who was Waldo, and why did he warn McGregor off?

2. Where did the offer of a hotel partnership come from at the end - was it just thrown in?
