I like to read biographies, anyone have any favorite ones they would like to reccomend. Thanks

I love bios/autobios on musicians and athletes.

For my money, "The Dirt" is the most interesting bio I think I've ever read. For those who don't know, it's the complete and uncensored history of Motley Crue as told by all four members to Neill Strauss. I just could not put this book down. The shit these guys did to themselves over the years would have killed most people 20 times over. What an interesting and thoroughly entertainling look into the deepest part of 80's excess.

All I can say is "Wow."

Strauss also put together a really solid follow-up to this with "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell" - Marilyn Manson's bio. I'm not much of a Manson fan, but this book really opened my eyes to how intelligent he really is an how brilliantly he markets himself.

David McCullough's biography of Truman is wonderful, as is David Herbert Donald's book on Lincoln. They're both quite weighty tomes, though. Easy to read, but long.

Mornings on Horseback by David McCullough about Teddy Roosevelt and another by McCullough that I enjoyed was John Adams and Truman was a good read. I want to read Theodore Rex by Edmund Morris,and I have a bio about Benjamin Franklin waiting in my to read pile.

"Boy Wonder - My Life In Tights" by Burt Ward (TV's Robin) is quite an interesting read. Basicly a book about all the tail him and Adam West scored while making Batman.

I'll second McCullough's John Adams. Have Truman, but haven't cracked it yet.

Love reading wrestling biographies. Reading Bret Hart's right now. Most excellent. Chris Jericho's was also great. Even if you don't like wrestling, Mick Foley's are also great reads.

As for rock bands, Slash's book was absolutely one of the best musician biographies I've ever read. Nikki Sixx's was good, but kind of short. I would rate Aerosmiths' as just as good as "The Dirt". Read Aerosmith's biography twice, actually. It's that good.

Neil Gaiman's biography of Douglas Adams, "Don't Panic", was a wonderful read.
