Is there a Book Trade Thread?
 

I did a search and didn't see one. So, maybe there is not enough interest in one. I usually buy books used and read them, then Ebay them. But thought trading might be easier.

If there is no Book Trade thread, (a) would anyone be interested in one or (b) are there anyone Trade forum sites that you use or recommend?

I recently signed up, put up 10 books for other users to request. Shipped one out last week, and I have 3 credits to use to pick out various books. Seems like a very good site to cycle books at a cheap price.

They work pretty well but a problem I have run into is there is heavy demand for new books and out of print books ... not so much for easily obtained titles.

Easy, are one of those better than the other?

I find a lot of books I want for cheap on half.com or amazon used but shipping is usually more than the price of the book. I'm trying to find multiple books from the same seller to save some money but that's hard to do sometimes. Any tips?

No, not really. Each has it's own quirks so you should read the rules at each site. Both work essentally the same, you list the books you can part with and wait... when someone requests your book you send it at your expense and you earn a point. You spend your point by requesting any listed book and the owner ships it to you. Works well because selection is not limited to one listing, you choose from all listings.

Bookmooch does international trades and that can be a plus or a negative.
For example, you might find a book in the UK not published in the US. OTOH, the USPS does not do surface overseas so shipping can be very expensive.

Paperbackswap sells points if you find something you can't live without.

Both are worth a look but... do read the rules.
