Request for Eggers like books

Hi,
Trying to find some christmas presents for my wife, she really likes Dave Eggers and Bill Bryson, can anyone suggest similar writers or books for me?

Or is there a website out there that says if you like this you may like this?

Thanks

Well, Eggers founded McSweeney's, so you could check the stuff they've published for material like that. Their online store is at the link.

Yeah, fellow McSweeney's authors and mates may be a good place to mine for new authors and material. From the two authors you listed, I'm guessing she's looking for books that are at least slightly comic?

The wiki article for Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything has a link to Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman! by Richard Feynman, which I imagine must mean it's a similar book.

Sarah Vowell has written some lightly humorous non-fiction books like Assassination Vacation

David Foster Wallace also has a similar tone.

Amazon will show a list of other titles purchasers of a certain book bought, which might provide some books of similar style

I love Eggers, and although they may not be similar exactly, I'd recommend any book by Augusten Burroughs, particularly his new Magical Thinking collection of essays. Quirky humor. Well written.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I will grab Magical Thinking (I think she liked Running with Scissors) Ill also gab Assassination Vacation. That Feynman one looks like something I'd like, so I may need to grab that too.....
