Brett Easton Ellis fans.
So i am a huge Ellis fan with american psycho beeing probably my favourite book of all time. But i was wondering if anyone had any good ideas to other authors whom i might also like, that are comparable to Ellis if you know what i mean. Any advice would be great.

Jay McInerney's Bright Lights, Big City is basically American Psycho without the graphic sex and violence. I had to read it for a class last year, and multiple people compared the main character to Patrick Bateman during discussion. Ellis even includes McInerney as a character in his new book, Lunar Park, as I believe they are friends in real life.
Before you begin to tackle other authors, have you read all of Ellis' books?

Twelve by Nick McDonell reminded me of Brett Easton Ellis works. There are characters in that novel who could be easily placed in Ellis' world. Though I didn't think it has the quality of American Psycho e.g. in terms of character development, plot and sheer madness.

Are you talking extreme violence/horror? If so you may like Jack Ketchum or Edward Lee.
