Books on the Korean War?
 

I've recently realized that I don't know much at all about the Korean War, and I'd like to remedy that.

I'm looking for some books that will give overviews and give stories. I've read "Ghost Soldiers" (awesome), "Flags of our Fathers" (great story...not a great book, IMO), and "Jarhead" (a must-read). So, my war-theme reading is still very slim, but those are the types/genres of warbooks that I've found interesting.

So, any leads on books like those related to the Korean war?

I was in the same boat where I felt I didnt really know enough about this war and was only perpetuating its reputation as "The Forgotten War" so a few months back I bought and read "In Mortal Combat" by John Toland. I thought it was pretty good, although its really more of a story about certain individuals woven together rather than a nuts and bolts type "history" so id like to think its what you are looking for.

one of my favorite little facts I learned: US/UN air interdiction (including USMC pilot Ed McMahon!) was so devastating that at one point only about 25% of the Chinese troops who crossed into Korea were making it to the front line.

It's probably not what you are looking for, but have you read MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors by Richard Hooker? It's a very short book and (obviously) the basis for the movie M*A*S*H.
