Dustjacket woes - my covers are fading!

I have a pretty serious collection of rare books that are all nicely covered in Brodart jackets. Over the last dozen or so years the sun has started to take a nasty toll on them and the spines on many have become faded.

I am looking for a UV blocking cover (not just resistant but SERIOUSLY resistant). Can anyone give me any advice on where to get this kind of product? I assume it will be a Mylar-D or similar.

Thanks,
Russ

Makes sense to me to keep them out of direct sunlight. I do and have never had a fading problem. I've seen used bookstores that had books up front near the windows where the covers where completely bleached to the point you couldn't read the titles.

Store them out of sunlight in a climate that's not too hot, nor too cold, and does not receive too much or too litle moisture. If the books are truly old/rare, you should be caring for the investment likewise.

I throw away all of my dust jackets. They're useless to me, and terribly tacky.

It is not difficult to cover the dust jackets with acetate or mylar. Check with your local picture framing shop for the proper materials. (not a chain store, though)
