Book Title Help - Female survives nuclear blast

I'm quite sorry for the somewhat vague thread title. Unfortunately, there is very little I recall about the book, if that's indeed what it is.

From what I remember, there was a girl who lived in a village in a valley with her family. Something happens and the girl is left alone in the valley (I believe it's after a nuclear blast).

Some other things happen. Blah blah. Eventually, a man wanders in, and she's happy to see another human being. However, as she's sleeping one night, she notices the man entering her room/standing over her.

Aside from that, there's very little I know. I just remember reading it when I was younger, and recently, it's been driving me crazy.

Any and all help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I remember reading that book when I was in 8th grade and found it very enjoyable.
