Question about Second Person voice

I'm familiar with First (I), Second (You) and Third (He), but I'm reading Stephen King and Peter Straub's The Black House and I'm wondering it qualifies as second person or some other (Fourth person?). Instead of "You," the narrarator uses "We."

If it is second person, it is even more annoying than regular second person.

There's some stuff here about variants of the different voices.

I haven't read Black House yet. I might not, if that's the voice they're using. It takes me right out of a story.

"We" would be first person, plural, wouldn't it? I've never seen that before. Sounds annoying.

I'd also say it's a variation on First Person. For the record, has anyone ever read a book written in true Second Person form? It seems awfully difficult to pull off (not to mention difficult to read).

It totally threw me out of the story. It switches betweeen "We" and "You," which is what makes me think it's second person. It will have passages like "We move down the hall, on our left is a painting that makes you think of..."

I stopped reading it. Why would they choose such a different style from the Talisman? It's damn annoying.

The only books written in second person with which I'm familiar include phrases like "If you open the door, turn to page 43. If you crawl through the window, turn to page 57."

Bright Lights, Big City was written in second person.

I just started Diary by Chuck Palachiuk. It seems to be written in the second person.

Sure. Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books are a mix of second- and third-person.

Wasn't Half Asleep In Frog Pajamas in second person?

Yeah and that book spawned many copycats.
