Erle Stanley Gardner (author of Perry Mason mysteries)

I'm currently reading Top of the Heap by ESG and am loving every page of it. Erle Stanley Gardner was quite the mystery pulp novelist who wrote many short stories and novels from the 1930s to the early 1970s.

His series:

Perry Mason mysteries

Cool and Lam mysteries

D.A. Doug Selby mysteries

Ed Jenkins mysteries

Lester Leith mysteries

I have only just begun reading his work, but plan on continuing. Anyone else a fan?

Back when I was in the 6th or 7th grade, my Mom took me to the public library to introduce me to Gardner's novels. I had been a fan of Perry Mason since I was about 8 or 9. I used to come home from school and watch the Mason show after Dark Shadows. Since the first seasons were largely based on the novels, my Mom thought I would enjoy getting the whole story. I credit her with largely encouraging my reading at the time when most other kids had no use for books other than homework.

I still continue to be an avid reader of all types of books some 35+ years later. I went through everything I could find by Gardner. I then branched out to Lew Archer novels by Ross MacDonald as well as novels by Uris, Ludlum and Blatty. I still enjoy a good novel as I am relaxing to go to bed.

Thanks for helping me to remember how much I enjoyed these. :)
