'Life of Pi'-like suggestions?
This is my first time wondering into the Book Talk forum so please be gentle. ;) The search function on DVDTalk makes it difficult to find threads mentioning 'Life of Pi' so hopefully I'm not starting a duplicate thread.
I really liked the book by Yann Martel. His book about survival, religion and animals was very entertaining. I was looking for some suggestions for similar books from other readers out in Book Talk. In case it helps with some suggestions, I also recently enjoyed reading 'The Da Vinci Code' and all of the Harry Potter books. Thanks. :) |
Given that many accuse Martel of plagarizing Moacyr Scliar's "Max and the Cats," you may want to check that out.

DJ Sounds interesting. I'll have to take a look at that book. Didn't 'Life of Pi' win some literary awards though? If the book seemed plagiarized, why give it awards? |
Yann Martel has a new book out as well (though I don't recall its title).

It's not the story, it's the telling. I read it last Christmas and thought it was terrific. I might reccomand a book called Horn of a Lamb by Robert Sedlack. It's a terrific story that contains survival, animals, and faith. The perfect thing to read during the hockey lockout. |
