George Carlin's 'When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops?'

Coming Oct 12. Really looking forward to this. Braindroppings remains one of the funniest collections I've read. I still pick it up from time to time to flip through and find something to make me laugh.

I'm hoping that this will be a lot of new material, I was dissappointed that Napalm and Silly Putty was almost entirely transcripts of his stand up.

Over at www.georgecarlin.com they have an MP3 of 'The 10 Commandments'.

Carlin has been doing the opening to his new book during his shows (he says), and that is pretty funny. Hopefully the rest is not his current act, which is not very funny IMO.

He also said during his show that he liked the title because "it offends all 3 major religions at once"

Saw this at B&N last night and glanced through it. Looks like it might be mostly from his recent acts. The Ten Commandments routine is in there, where he manages to reduce them to Two Commandments - Thou Shalt Always be Honest, Especially to the Provider of Thy Nookie and Thou Shalt Attempt Not to Kill, Unless the Person Being Killed Worships a Different Invisible Avenger Than You.

I hope to go pick this up tomorrow.

If it is just text versions of his act (as opposed to all the original material in Braindroppings) I'll probabely grab the audio version instead.

I really like the audio book of Napalm and Silly Putty. It was interesting to hear the stand up material in a story teller's tone of voice then the live preformances. Worked terrific.

Finally picked this up over the weekend, I'm about a third of the way through it.

Very enjoyable. There are a few bits from A Place For My Stuff and Parental Advisory sprinkled through out, but it is almost entirely new material.

Less jokey stuff then Braindroppings though. The use of language is the consistant theme of almost every piece.

One thing that really bugs me is the number of typo's I've found in the first 80 or so pages. Do they proof-read books just by zipping them through spell check these days? Cause they are all errors like printing the word 'as' when it should clearly be 'at'.

The audio version is excellent. Carlin really has an excellent voice and reading style for audio books. Unlike someone like Dennis Miller that sounds bored the whole time.

Very funny book, the comparisons between religion and UFO sightings is priceless. I did hear bits I have heard before, but everything fits well into this book. He does go on a bit long with the stuff about euphemisms and language.
