BFI Modern Classics Series

I was wondering if anyone has the read the series of books released by the British Film Institute. If anyone could tell me how informative they are as opposed to a DVD of the movie.

hi popcorn, I read one of them, the one on HEAT, it was an OK read, discussed his style if I remember right, and previous movies he did and how he moved from there to HEAT, I don't remember reading anything too important on that one, but it's been 2 years and I was reading it during a graduation. I know the Wizard of Oz one has Salman Rushdie talking about why it made an impression with him. I suggest library if you can first, hope this is some help.

I collect them. Essentially they're long essays by notable critics. The best are comparable to good audio commentaries on dvds.

Is there a list of current offerings?
