Who is actually going to buy the new Clinton book?

Is the sign of the apocalypse near when Clintons book is number #1 on the Amazon best seller lists and Dodgeball is the number # 1 movie?

Why would anyone buy this crap by the most overrated president in US history?

Reagan is ten times the man Clinton will ever be.

Is it sold in the fiction or non-fiction section?

Erotic fiction, I believe.

Or is it true crime?? Confused...

darkflounder 06-22-04 06:19 AM

Thanks, but no. I'm still working through the Hillary Clinton book.

Have no idea what she said, but those pages sure do wipe the crap off my ass REAL GOOD!

BDB 06-22-04 06:30 AM

I got it for my dad for fathers day.

well a belated fathers day.

Brain Stew 06-22-04 06:33 AM

I preordered it at Borders for 40% off, not sure if I'll pick it up yet.

chrisih8u 06-22-04 07:34 AM

I dont see the point in buying these kinds of books. He's already done interviews and the media has blabbed all the decent parts. Whats left to read about?

Troll much?

To answer your question, I'll probably buy it eventually, once I see it used or remaindered. The last book I bought new was the third installment of Robert Caro's LBJ biography.

Do you really think that Clinton is more over-rated than JFK?

Th0r S1mpson 06-22-04 08:46 AM

Nothing against Clinton, but I think I have a good enough idea already of what it says. No here, but I don't buy very many books. If I was a book junkie I'd probably want it on my shelf.

Another sign of the apocalypse is when book discussions can't find their way into the Book Forum......

Good point... I'm moving it now.

Groucho 06-22-04 08:58 AM

If Clinton makes it to my area to do a book signing (highly unlikely), I'll try to go to that and buy a copy then.

I think that's more a sign of a Tuesday than the apocalypse.

Although I hate to respond to an obvious troll thread I'll second what chrisih8u said. The only point of buying a book like this is to see if he actually gives away any juicy details (and I’m not being partisan, I would say the same thing about any "tell all" fluff book). Anything good has and will come out through other (cheaper) sources without having to wade through this huge book.

If you absolutely must read something about this man who dishonored the Office of the President of the United States (and can do so without vomiting) go to your local library. Who cares if he had sex with anything that wasn't nailed down - that's nothing new. The problem arises in that he is not (and never will be) man enough to tell the truth and take responsibility for his own actions. That is, of course, until he can make a profit by doing so.

Thanks for sharing! -rolleyes- Anyway, I'll read it.

Ditto. He'll probably make it to Pittsburgh, but I douby I can get the time off to stand in an all day line.

zutroy 06-22-04 11:31 AM

I most certainly am going to buy it. I was going to try and get the book signed by him today, but people started lining up at noon yesterday for the book signings... so I'll just buy it today sans autograph. I recently finished "The Clinton Wars" and I feel like his book will be a good companion piece. I guess I'm in the minority here, because I really liked Clinton.

exm 06-22-04 12:37 PM

I will buy it.

Bronkster 06-22-04 12:47 PM

I doubt I'll buy this book. I'm waiting for Bush's book to come out, which will have a set of crayons included.

And a pair of "weapons of mass destruction visibility" goggles as well.

Mr.Briggs 06-22-04 03:51 PM

Yes, I'll be buying the book & driving almost 200 miles to wait in an all day & half the night line to get it signed by the greatest President of my lifetime (cleaned up all of Reagan/Bush's red ink only to have JUNIOR blow the surplus in his first year of his only term).

Are the lines really that long? I'm thinking about going down to the signing in san jose next week, but not if I'm going to have to wait in line for more than 3-4 hours.

PalmerJoss 06-22-04 04:44 PM

Reports from the first signing in NYC this morning said that people were lining up at midnight last night, so plan accordingly.

Crocker Jarmen 06-22-04 07:34 PM

I was watching Oprah this afternoon (I'm not proud but I was waiting for Dr. Phil to come on) and the guest was Clinton promoting the book. It sounded like it may be an interesting read.

I was struck though by the lanuage he used when discussing the scandel. Clinton never used the words 'affair' or 'sex', only 'mistake.' He kept claiming that he wasn't making excuses for himself, but I think it's very clear he was. His main point was that in trying to protect America, he was unable to protect himself. He said 'I won the battle for the US, but lost the battle for my marriage'.

The other thing I found really funny was at the end of the show, when he and Oprah were discussing his daughter's boyfriends. Clinton said 'I try to keep out of her affairs', and then giggled when the double entendre hit him.
