Now I sure hope you didn't start that book thinking it would be uplifting. :D

I've heard Winnie the Pooh by A.A. Milne is pretty good.

Never read any of those, but they don't sound very uplifting. :p

From what I've heard, Life of Pi by Yann Martel is supposed to be pretty uplifting. I have it, but haven't read it yet.

I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom, but it wasn't uplifting. I heard his other book Tuesdays With Morrie is pretty inspirational, though.

I desperately want to read Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King, but I can't find it anywhere. Since the movie is my favorite movie, I figure the book has to be pretty decent as well. I'd lick BoatDrinks' hairy ass if he could get me a copy of that book. ;)

I have Ben Mezrich's book Bringing Down the House, but haven't read it yet. It's a true story about 6 M.I.T. students who took Vegas for millions. I don't know what your definition of uplifting is, but taking Vegas for millions certainly qualifies in my book. :D

You do realize that it's a part of Different Seasons and not a standalone book, don't you? Just thought I'd check.

Beaver told you where to find it.

But the title of the story is Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. There's no "the."

Different Seasons is good. It also has "The Body" which was the basis of the movie Stand By Me, and "Apt Pupil" which was also made into a movie. There is also "The Breathing Method" which I don't really remember...old age sucks! :)

As for uplifting books, I really liked Boy's Life by Robert McCammon. Not your typical uplifting book, but a great coming of age story. Watership DOwn is a fave of mine as well.

Rabbit genocide is uplifting? :p

My wife the rabbit lover can't get past the first few chapters. Personally, I love the book.
