2 recently released MUST OWN books for cult/horror movie fans!!
A heads up for any horror junkies or Japanese movie fanatics like myself here. There are two recentley released EXTERMELY interesting reference books out that should be a part of everyone's library.
The first is Fangoria:101 Best Horror Movies You'Ve Never Seen. I'm a horror junky, & this is a MUST HAVE book even if you consider yourself the most knowledgable of horror fans. It's loaded with movies even I have forgoten about. Has great trivia on every movie listed, tells you all 101 of their DVD availabitlity & is just a fun read.
The second & real gem of a book is The Yakuza Movie Book: A Guide to Japanese Gangster Films. I can't imagine being a cult film fan & not owning this wonderful guide to Japanese Cinema the book is so in-depth it is just a wonderful read. Written by Mark Schilliing, this is may be the most authoritative book on the Japanese underworld ever produced. In-depth profiles of the 7 most notable directors of the genre, as well as reviews of well over 100 films with critical commentaries.
I cannot recommend this books enough, especially the Yakuza book.
