i just got done reading the entire preacher TPB series and all i can say is DAMN it was good. i am glad that i never got into the monthly series cause i lost so much sleep trying to get the trades read it was so good. i got to the end and was cause there wasn't any more to read.

I am 87 pages into Redemption Ark by Alastair Reynolds.

If it is not a contradiction in terms it might be classified as something of a gritty space opera.

Having just skimmed a couple of reviews I note that he has already written two books in the same mileu: Chasm City and Revelation Space.

I wasn't aware that there was more than one translation, but seeing as how it was originally penned in French in the mid 1800s, I can now see how there would be more than one translation.

I'm reading a paperback Signet Classic from 1988 with an introduction by Robert Wilson. It doesn't say who translated it, so am I to assume that Robert Wilson did since he wrote the introduction?

I finished The Count of Monte Cristo. For some reason I've always wanted to read it, but never have. I think maybe because of it being mentioned in my favorite movie, The Shawshank Redemption. Funny how Shawshank kind of parallels Monte Cristo.

Next up is And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. If I like it, I'll probably try to eventually read all of her work interspersed with some other books.

Thats her best novel in my opinion. Her basic story idea has been used over and over more times than I can count. She's one of the best mystery writers that ever lived so you will have no trouble finding good books of hers to read.

I'm finishing up Seabiscuit and I haven't decided what to read next. It will either be the new Ben Franklin biography or Dark Tower II. I haven't decided yet.

Zeus, you are going to love Plum Island, that is one of my all time favorite books! DeMille is a great writer IMO.

So far this month I have read Hard Eight and To the Nines by Stephanie Plum. I'm currently reading the latest Op-center book Sea of Fire to gear up for Teeth of the Tiger coming out later this month. After that it will probably be Angels and Demons.

Reading The Green Hills of Earth by Robert Heinlein. It's a short story collection. I ordered another Heinlein book (can't remember which one), and I'll read it next. I'm gradually working my way through all of Heinlein's novels.
